    Dual Boot?

    I have used a startech.com USB to SErial Adapter with com port retention and it has worked on the old fms/vms/and AD-8 voicemails and with the SAT software for the elite 192's and IPK's. The part number is ICUSB232PRO. Shouldn't cost more than 50 bucks.

    VMS voice mail defaulting....

    I don't believe you can default a VMS or FMS by flipping a dip switch. You can flip some dip switches to boot the voicemail into diagnostic mode, then connect with CoSession and your can dearchive the default system database. Good luck.

    I would agree 100% with PAVE35, your only option is number 2. However, if you could get them to shell out for new handsets the IPK II would be the way to go in my opinion.

    The SAT software is only availabe to NEC dealers, most IPK Techs do the programming thru the phone, it is much more reliable in my opinion.

    Department Groups IPK II

    The problem was with the CTI LX. I had to change the Initiate Sequence to "&,X,Q" and make sure the Connect Sequence was set to "Q" I wouldn't recommend changing anything in the strings unless you are sure of what you are doing.

    I have an IPK V 1.60 and a small department group setup. If I transfer a caller to the department group the call hunts the way it should. However if I have the voicemail transfer a call to the pilot of the department group the call never hunts and will eventually recall back to the voicemail...

    NEC VMS question

    I have never run into that issue. The only time the voicemail normally says "I am sorry but I did not hear your selection" is if they are trying to dial an extension that doesn't have a mailbox in the voicemail.

    There is a reset button on each of the cards. You can reset that SLI card while the system is on and it will not affect any other devices. You could also hot swap the SLI card with a different SLI card just to verfiy there isn't a problem in the back plane of the KSU.

    Incoming call routed to three phones

    I would setup some virtual extensions in a hunt group and have the legal lines DIT to the pilot of the hunt group. Then just put the virtual extension keys on each of the three phones that you want to ring. Good Luck.

    I ran into the same problem with an IPK v1.7 and an Elitemail. I can't honestly remember what I did to fix the problem. I will look through some notes and post back if I find anything.

    If you want the buttons to be user programmable you need to assign them in MB 4-12 as FEATURE ACCESS button or FA. I believe you can have up to 16 FA buttons per phone. Good luck.

    The IPK II system is so new that I doubt many people here have much experience with it. If you are a NEC Tech then you will probably want to post that question to the NTAC forum. Also, version 1.10 is avaiable so make sure you update your CPU.

    TIs the AA a standard feature and is it easy to program? The AA is not a standard feature on the Elite 192, your voicemail must act as the AA. Can it also be programmed via the Station set? Should be able to but it is dependent upon the voicemail which is not NEC. Good luck.

    The 192 stands for the total number of ports in the system. Basiclly you have 128 phones and 64 incoming lines =192 total ports.

    One more thing, the voicemail they have is most likely NOT an NEC voicemail. It is probably a 3rd party VM connected through on a SLI Card. Check with the VM Manufacturer.
