Look at support.citrix.com to find out how to create the ICA files.

PS 4.0 will work in a Windows 2008 Active Directory Domain, but is will not work on a Windows 2008 server.
But you will need to test this. I would run up an isolated VMWare machine and install a W2k8 domain and add a virtual citrix server as well.
You will need to consider the Terminal...
The starting point for this type of issue is to remove printer drivers that are not certified for Terminal Services or all of them completely and if you have to start putting them back one at a time.
Metaframe XP is very susceptible to bad print drivers.
But you seem to also be having other...
It sounds more like something is corrupting your local profile or you have a licensing issue.
That could be terminal service licenses or Citrix licenses.
I would use or build another vista machine and test on that for several days.

I would start with deleting the Citrix related folders and registry entries from your profile.
Then try again.
Otherwise take a copy of the important things in your profile and start again with a new profile.

Things to look at:
-Have you installed and activated a Terminal Service License server?
-Is Terminal Services set to application mode, not administrators only?
-Can you RDP to the server and log on?

User Hive Profile Cleanup Service is the most common way to clean up roaming profiles.
Failing this you can write a script using vbscript that moves leftover profiles to another folder and delete at a later stage.

The resources in question are more than likely kernel memory shortages.
You need to look at the performance monitoring tools associated with free memory pages etc.
This might be a good start.

There are a couple of things you should check

As enigma99 has said Citrix uses Microsoft Terminal services to share applications with multiple users.
I can only assume that investigating whether they will work in a virtual environment means they want your to investigate a virtual desktop environment.
This means that through...

Manually setting is a good option if you do not have many servers.
In my environment We have the computer policy, set on the servers to remove disconnected sessions after 10 minutes.
In the user accounts the defaults settings are used for session timeouts.
On the servers they are not set to...
This does sound like a DNS issue. Is your IIS server configured to accept the IP address for the web sites or the domain name?
If you go to ip address only what happens. Is the IP address of the server the same as the dns lookup.
What happens when you go to the loop back address 127.0.0.1...
I'm not sure about this one.
Can you provide some more information?
Office versions, Citrix version, Operating system version.
What happens if someone else logs onto that users computer, does their email work ok? Also what happens when this user moves to another computer?

What Ian said is right, but you might also want to look at creating a software VPN using IPSEC or PPTP between the client and the server.
You will need a Terminal Service license server as well if the users connecting do not have administrator rights on the server.

I guess what your talking about is getting USB devices to work through the session.
I assume they have been connected before the Citrix session was started. Otherwise they won't work.
The other place to check is the Citrix Policies to make sure your allowing the virtual channels and devices...
