Way to "highlight" on text when changing it?

Styles are great. You could also use story editor maybe, if you're at risk of forgetting to reapply styles, which worries me.

    Newbie with an age Problem

I think I understand. You want a box with a (black?) border which has an image. You want a text element in the bottom left corner, on a (white?) background. You want the border of the image box to go along the top right of the text element's box, where it would normally go round the bottom left...

    making 3-fold pamphlet with indesign

Depending on the thickness of the paper, and if you're folding inside (rather than concertina-fashion), you might want to adjust the folds slightly so the inside page is a little smaller than the others so it doesn't bulge.

    Auto Change Text

Could you make the reference text an index, with the item currently on p63 as the only entry? I'm happy to say I've never made an index so I've no idea if this would work.

    Pages and Locked graphics

To change to facing pages: File > Document setup Tick the Facing Pages box. To unlock objects, select them then go to: Objects > Unlock position Objects might not move because they're on a locked layer. Window > Layers If a layer has a crossed-out pencil symbol next to its name, it's locked...

InData http://www.emsoftware.com/products/indata/ Not sure about the last-minute update just to one field though

Ok... I need help placing multiple text files

Yeah I'm afraid I've nothing to add on the InDesign front on that point! Another one for Adobe's CS4 suggestions bit bucket...

Ok... I need help placing multiple text files

There's an app for windows for merging rtf and word files called Monkey Merge iirc. I haven't found one for mac yet.

Can footnotes break across two columns in CS3?

You might be able to find a plug in. Sonar Bookends InFnote might do it - but I've never used it and this isn't a recommendation.

Exporting to PDF: how to allow printing and not to enable copying of t

I think the compatibility needs to be Acrobat 5 or newer - you can change that in the drop down menu in the export dialogue. Or you can change it in the Acrobat menu if you have Professional.

    Bulleted format in In-Design

This might sound silly - I'm sure you've thought of it - but is it possible that the menu is low down on the screen and the monitor is set up so that somehow the bottom of the flyout menu gets cut off? To see what version you're running, go to About InDesign. Try trashing the preferences?

try to make index with "......." between name and page number

In the Table of Contents panel select More Options and choose right indent tab in the Between Entry & Number. Put a period in the Leader box in the tabs panel.

    Bulleted format in In-Design

What version are you using? And what does appear in the menu? (sorry for misunderstanding the query)

    Bulleted format in In-Design

It's in the bullets and numbering section which you get from the 'fly-out' menu - not from the contextual (right-click) menu. In the Paragraph window, click on the little triangle at the top right. Choose Bullets and Numbering then list type - bullets. Click Add and choose the bullet points...

    PDF file name problem

Is it possible that when you save, you click inside the directory into which you want to save your file, but click on the file name of something else in that directory? That would put the name of that file into the 'save as' box

    Transparent text

Here's how in Q6 - it might be similar in 7. If not, sorry - just ignore me. Type your text then select it and go to style/text to box. Then get the image. Put that text (which is now a box) over a coloured box.

Does CS2 translate text into other languages?

No it doesn't. It can check spelling in several languages. I'm afraid the solution to your problem is to hire translators.

    Visibles?

Sometimes I find it only works for a selected text box/one in which you've placed the cursor (CS2)... and sometimes all.

    Transparency palette

Check the Configure Plug-ins panel to make sure the transparency ones aren't disabled? I'm not sure if they could be, or even whether disabling them would lead to the palette disappearing, but might be worth a look.
