If you are trying to backup the exchange database files, while exchange is still running, without using an exchange agent, the backup is worthless. This is because the files are in use, and will be out of syncronization. Hope that makes a bit more sense.

There is no officially supported method to move the DB location. You'll need to uninstall and resinstall. Only other choice would be to install SQL on the box, and then convert the Arcserve DB to SQL. But thats a pretty costly endeavor.
