Job + DB problems

Here's my problem:

Originally I was getting DB errors (unable to add session). After running the db untilities and seeing a ton of errors, we decided on reinstalling Arcserve completely with a new DB. Now I'm having more problems. Firstly, my jobs are not starting. If I create a backup job it will not start at the appropriate time, even if I submit as run now. However, as soon as I stop and start the job engine, it will start the backup. Once I do that, if I try and stop the job I get a 'Failed to Stop Job' error and have to reboot the machine. When the job is running, the activity log shows everything backing up fine, but the job will never stop on it's own, I have to do a reboot. On top of that if I go to do a restore, it doesn't show any files to restore, so I'm assuming the DB is still not working (no errors now, and db size is growing).

Any help would be greatly appreciated and would prevent me from throwing everything out and starting over.

Thanks!

What version of ArcServe are you using? If it is 2000 there is a patch that fixes the jobs never stopping problem. I had to call techsupport for it, but it does exist. However instead of the job actually finishing, it just started failing :p Which is still better than having to restart all the services after every job.
When the job fails to stop you dont have to restart the machine. First delete the .chk file from the q000001 folder, and then close the manager, and then restart all the arcServe services from the services manager, and then fire up the manager again. If that doesnt work delete the .job file and restart the services again (with the manager closed).
When you reinstalled arcServe did you make a new system account? maybe the one you are using doesnt have the proper permissions to access the DB. Just guessing.

Thanks for the quick response. I am using Arcwerve 2000

I'll see if I can dig up that patch. Will that take care of the job not starting also?

I did not make a new system account when I reinstalled arcServe. I've triple checked all security settings, and I'm not getting any more 'Unable to login' errors, so I think that problem was resolved with the reinstall.
