If that is the setup that you want, which one do your really want to be your dhcp server? If it is the Actiontec gateway, you have to disable the dhcp server of the Linksys router. Also, you need to set your router to work as a router instead of a gateway, check on your firmware to find out...
Not quite clear...are you installing this WPC55AG to a macintosh computer? or does your client basically just wanna connect to any available networks at all times, with this card?

Make sure you downloaded the firmware for the BEFW11S4 version. Check the exact model+version of your router by looking at the sticker underneath it. If you have the right firmware, do a hard reset of the router first before running the firmware upgrade. Good luck!
Linksys does not have any downloads for that model. BTW, what cd is it that you're looking for? If it's just the setup disk, forget it...just set it up using the web utility of the router. :)

For terayon modems...I think, there may an ip address conflict with the router.

if it will be the settings of IE...make sure that under the Connections tab of the Internet Options, it's set to Never Dial a Connection. Remove also Proxy Servers or any LAN Settings enabled.
make sure that both are configured for workgroup and not for domain (if it is set to domain, better not to change it unless you're sure that you can login with the workgroup).
workgroup should be the same, of course...with same computer name.
