Short of using something like GFI MailEssentials, does anyone know of an exchange add-in that will allow auto responses sent to either users or groups right from the exchange server?
I just can't justify GFI when we already have eSafe in place which is the same thing...just doesn't offer auto...
Been there, done all that.
As I noted, I can run the backup job fine if I start it manually, but when the schedule runs it is completely random when it completes and when it doesn't and it always fails on the maiboxes but not the information store.
If it were a permissions issue or lack of a...
Ok, here is one that has been driving me nuts for quite some time now.
BE 8.6 backs up an exchange 2000 server (all servers and software up to current SP levels). About 50% of the time it's successful, and 50% failed with "unable to attach to Exchange Mailboxes" but still backs up...
I just put Mandrake 8.2 on a test box here and have had no problems. Mandrake is probably one of the easiest releases for a new user in my opinion. I started on SuSe and also played around with RedHat and Slackware. Mandrake is probably the most user friendly installation of the bunch.
I found it easier to just use KIX for all my domain batch files, however...
You could either call one batch file from within the other if you want to call by profile, or if you are running Active Directory, use Group Policy to assign log on/log off scripts to either the users or computers...
Open up the Computer Management snap-in for the computer with the shared files. Expand the Shared Folders tree and choose Open Files
You can see a list of what users have what files open and force dissconect sessions as needed.

Well after 2 days of successful backups, it returns to not being able to backup the Directory store and now it's not even backing up the information store...
I really don't know what else to do at this point...anyone have any suggestions?
There is no more information in either the job or event...
It simply stated unable to attach...

When you run exchange 5.5 on a 2000 server that is an AD Domain controller, the LDAP and LDAP SSL ports on exchange do not function on the default ports (389 and 636 respectively)

Save yourself headaches in the long run and use the Compaq SmartStart CD's to install the OS...the inaccessable boot device is usually due to the OS not having the proper driver (Compaq RAID controller or SCSI controller) for your system.

Are you using a managed hub and if so is it set to allow that particular port to use 100Mbps?
Also you can try to force your NIC to use Full Duplex instead of Hardware Default if your hub supports this...go into your LAN properties and choose Configure under the NIC...under the Advanced Tab...

EDBBCLI.DLL is the dll you need to make sure is the same on both your exchange server and the backup server. If you patched the exchange server, this dll will be different and you will want to copy the one from exchange to the system32 directory on the backup server.
That should be...

Are you saying you've used up 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.255??? That's over 64,000 workstations....
Now, if you are saying you've used up all of a 192.168.x.1-254 range, then you can start playing around with the subnetting and move to a 255.255.0.0 or any variation thereof that would...

Are you running AD or are you still in a Domain structure?
If you are running AD, are you setting the scripts up through the Default Domain Policy or strictly on one server like you used to in NT4 (Netlogon equivelant)? If it is done through the Default Domain Policy then it should run for any...
You can get a good idea of how much and who is using the most space on your servers through Exchange Admin
