How do I erase files that I'm sharing on the network that ppl are using. I keep getting a sharing violation but I can't track down who is using the file.

Open up the Computer Management snap-in for the computer with the shared files. Expand the Shared Folders tree and choose Open Files

You can see a list of what users have what files open and force dissconect sessions as needed.

I use MMC. MMC is one of the best things Microsoft has ever come out with. Start, Run and type mmc, then add/remove. I've created several custom apps with this, and the share is one of them. I've got a folder on my desktop with all the snap-ins I've created and called it snap-ins, and keep them all there. Can monitor everything from the shares to bad packets on a nic. If your not familiar with mmc, get to know it. Great stuff. Glen A. Johnson
