try to recreate a new mailbox, send a mail to it, come to the restore window, select the mailbox to be restored, go to destination, uncheck restore to original location, go thru the network and point to the new mailbox, recycle the backup agent rpc service and submit the job...

exch agent 425 fail to log on as administrator on backing up exchange 2000 thru arcserve 2k, exchange is on a member server, build of agent is 450, bld of arcserve is 1100, backing up thru network. all rights/permissions set correctly..

Firstly, try running the backup agent exchange configuration on the exchange box, once its done, recyclet the backup agent rpc service and try backing up bricks.
For the restore, create a mailbox and then send a mail to it and then go to restore window, select the mailbox for the restore and go...
clean the tape device's head twice or thrice? try restoring from different tapes and try a fresh backup and restore. it will make the picture clear for you.

You need to register for either advanced edn or workgroup edn. STOP the event log watch service and then rename ca_lic folder and then run silent.bat from arcserve cd and register the product.

Before installing sp4, shutdown all arcserve services, including discovery and message engine and close arcserve manager. Disable antivirus if any and then apply sp4.

If using sql 7 then apply sp2 of sql server and run a backup of northwind. Also check the odbc connectivity with sa account and test the datasource, once its done..backup will not fail. If you are using a different database i.e one which is incompatible with sql 7 then you need to make it...
error 402 comes if there is a wrong security for the bricks level or if your mailboxes are hidden and you are trying to backup internet connectors. also, if exchange is running on a different box then you need to back it up thru the network not thru the client agent. Happiness is a daily decision
change the logon as to use 'this account' i.e. exchange service account for backup agent rpc server service on the exchange server and then recycle the service and try backing up after creating a new job.

If exchange is on the remote server then you need to go thru the network while setting up a backup and not thru the client agents..
