Do I have a bad CPU? tried new mobo and PS, no help...

If MB uses a video card, then replace it. If the MB uses an onboard video adapter, then either the RAM or the CPU may be bad(Yes, I've seen bad RAM that did not produce a beep code).

    windows 98 startup errors

Normally, the cause of that message is a corrupt command.com file. To replace the file, get into BIOS by pressing and holding either the F2 or F10 key during startup, highlight "Advanced BIOS Features" (or similar) using the arrow keys, press Enter to select that option, scroll down to "1st Boot...

Font fuzzy on startup (until i reset screen res and revert)

Make sure all of the monitor's connections are secure. If that's ok and it's still under warranty, then contact either Dell or whatever supplier sold it. If it's not under warranty, then something is probably failing on it. My old 17" CRT monitor does the same thing after a cold boot. After it...

    Dell Optiplex GX270 Fan/Heatsink Issue

Check the CPU's temperature either in BIOS, or with a monitoring utility(Motherboard Monitor is a freebie). If it exceeds 65 C when the system is performing applications, then remove the CPU, clean off the thermal compound from it and its heatsink, apply new compound, and reinstall.

Canon LIDE scanner downloaded driver problem

You're welcome. Did you try installing the scanner using the Windows "Add Hardware" utility, and pointing to the INF folder when prompted for the location of the driver?

    BIOS Keeps Auto-recovering

Reseat all of the RAM modules. If no luck, then run memtest86 to check the RAM one module at a time. If the RAM is ok, then the BIOS chip may be bad.

How to determine what video card is installed

Run DirectX on the other PC's to determine which video cards/adapters they're using, eliminate their driver CD's, and the last remaining driver CD should be the one you need.

    will new memory work??

Crucial's RAM recommendation should be good because it's based on either your computer's or MB's make and model.

ATI T200 Unified AVStream Driver always shows ! next to it

Start in Safe mode, remove the video card from Device Manager, uninstall the video card drivers from Add/Remove Programs, restart normally, and reinstall the drivers. If no luck, then try different drivers.

Boot Failure - not even a BIOS beep

Make sure that the CPU's fan runs when the system is started. If it does not, then a CPU fan failure option in BIOS may be shutting down the system to prevent the CPU from overheating, and getting damaged. If the fan runs and it has a 3-wire MB connector, then check that the connector is making...

    Seagate 500G just stopped?

Make sure the SATA controller is enabled in BIOS. If ok, then connect the drive to a different SATA port. If NG, then try different interface and power cables. If NG, then see if the drive works on another system. If NG, then the drive may be defective.

    Optiplex GX260 Not Booting

The power button may be bad. Disconnect its leads from the MB terminals, and short those same terminals with a flat bladed screwdriver. If the system starts, then replace the power button assembly. If the PB is not the cause, then either the MB or PS may be bad. Swap them out. Or you can test...
