While it's technically possible, I'd echo everyone here in saying it's a very bad idea.
An inexpensive VPN appliance, such as a Sonicwall TZ100, can be had for under $300 and will save you a world of pain.

In VMPro, I want to have a menu that looks like this:
Timeout -> Transfer to Main Menu
5XX -> Transfer to $KEY
501 -> Transfer to CB501, PIN protected
However, when users dial 501, it skips the pin protection. Is there any way to exclude just 501 from the 5XX range and accomplish this without...
Well, VMPro send the call to the hunt group. The individual recipient is chosen according to how the hunt group is configured (sequential, collective, etc) and the member's availability at the time.
I'm not an expert like a lot of these guys, but it sounds like you want some type of...
Yes, it uses a standard L2TP tunnel. The only difference between the VPN remote and the site to site configuration is that the VPN remote uses the phone as a VPN endpoint rather than requiring a separate device.
Make sure that the user has a router and has QOS configured to make VOIP traffic a...
So according to my distributor:
IMPLEMENTING PIN PROTECTED BRIDGES:
While Voicemail Pro allows you to PIN protect menus and menu actions, the system still dials a short code to connect to the bridge. There is no way, according to Jenne, to prevent users from dialing this short code directly...
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to implement the following request from a client?
The client would like to have a PIN protected conference bridge that is PIN protected both internally and externally; essentially, they want to ensure that no one can join the...
Jamie - I understand how it would work, just seems a lot of work for something I had assumed would be basic functionality. I know, assumptions and all that, but I think it was a reasonable one. Jenne is a distributor (www.jenne.com) through whom my employer purchases Avaya products - they...
So adding V501 to the Source Numbers will not accomplish lighting the lamp?
· V<Caller's ICLID>
For systems using Voicemail Lite or Voicemail Pro, strings prefixed with a V indicate numbers from which access to the users mailbox is allowed without requiring entry of the mailbox's voicemail...
Try restarting the VMPro services; I have found that often, strange quirks in the behavior of Avaya's VM system are resolved that way.
I have begun writing scripts to restart VMPro and its associated DB service weekly for all my customers.

The irony is that I use this forum for quick questions when I don't have time to call support because I'm busy at work with the projects stacked a mile high in my inbox.
I appreciate that (some of) you are helping out on your own time. I appreciate that the solution provided would work. I...
Ok, that's fine. I will consider changing everything later.
In the meantime, any chance I can get an answer to the original question?

There's no difference; it still doesn't light the indicator lamp of the specific individual I want.
I need to know how to light up a specific lamp.

How do I make the message indicator lamp turn on for an additional mailbox?
For example, user John (x301) has his own mailbox that works fine. There is also an IP User called General Mailbox (x501) that is used by VMPro callflows so that callers can leave a general message.
Currently, there...
A little of both never hurts, especially if you focus on the SMB (small and medium business) market. Larger corporations seem to be more interested in specialization these days.

You need to remember the difference between lines and channels. A PRI is a single line, but up to 23 (+1 control) channel.
On the Channels tab, however many you've enabled (which should match your license) is how many channels are available for calls.
Global short code:
c; 9N
f; Dial
tn; Ns5125551000
lgid; 50: Main
loc; [blank]
fac; [blank]
User short codes are now deleted, but I'm thinking, now that I see the default is 0, that perhaps they were set to 0 since I don't remember setting anything differently. I assume that would cause the issue?
