Have you tried to repair IE from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Sorry, I know nothing about networks, but the Repair function seems like the obvious choice.

Which OS are you using? If it's Win98se it's in Root drive:\Windows\System. Use System File Checker from the Run command to extract it.
