I noticed that my Local Area Connection was missing from my Network Connections folder. I must not have noticed earlier because I normally use wireless. Naturally I thought that either the drivers never got installed when I formatted a few months ago or that I had disabled at some point in my...
I'm just looking for some advice from anyone who has experience with similar situations:
I want to set up a cluster (2 servers) for Active Directory with Roaming Profiles for no more than 150 users. We will be running Windows Server 2003 Standard on it. There is also a good possibility that...
I have heard of people having trouble (I'm not sure exactly what) with the Linksys configuration utility for their wireless routers. I simply use the web interface (open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1) for configuration. Of course, if you can't even get to that it's irrelevent. Make sure you...
The beta client doesn't connect to an older server (even 6.5) and I've been trying over the last few days to get a beta server up and running without upgrading my current setup, but I haven't been able to get it to work yet. I didn't see anything earth-shattering in the new client, but then I...
You shouldn't have a problem using a non-domain server. As long as you use your group policy settings on the domain to point to the non-domain server's IP or Hostname for windows updates it won't matter whether or not it's on the domain. I currently have no domain at all and had to manually...
I had a fun time with this update yesterday. I haven't tried the workaround from Citrix yet, I will let you know if I do. Read these articles:

I found this on my Citrix problem:

My other servers all needed the patch to be installed again, and that fixed the Windows Update problem.
After installing Update Rollup 1 on several of my servers, I am unable to connect from Windows 2000 PCs using ICA (Citrix) client.
Another problem is that I am unable to visit the
Windows Update website. I get [Error number: 0x800700C1] at the top of the page. I read somewhere on the...
I just installed Protection Pilot 1.1 on my server and I installed the Console only version on my PC. When I attempt to login from my PC I get "Unable to create database administrator account. Be sure that you are logged on as a local administrator."
I am a local administrator on my PC, as...
Sometimes I can get it to work when the service won't start by going into the Services console and manually starting McAfee Framework Service, Network Associates McShield, and Network Associates Task Manager. Sometimes it will tell you why the service won't start if it doesn't work.
Try...
After VSE is removed from a machine you can remove the agent by simply right-clicking on it in your console and selecting Delete. Then it will pop up with 'Are you sure?' and it will have a checkbox to also remove the agent from the machine.
Turns out that the settings were being applied by ZENWorks in the registry, it just didn't show that in the Group Policy Editor. But that still doesn't help me with the server that doesn't have ZENWorks installed.
The solution that I'm going to try is to run a registry script at system...
The CPU has a heat alarm set at 50C I think that has never gone off and I have an older P4 that (always) runs at 50C+ just fine. I don't think it even goes above 35C ever, maybe when playing games. I'm almost certain its not an overheating issue because the computer won't turn on at all...
The biggest problem I've noticed with this is that our users complain that they have to log in again. But they will always complain about passwords unless they don't have any.
I'm not sure if we do this anymore, but for a while we were actually automatically disconnecting (not logging off)...
Would Citrix have any significant affect on the Registry?
I have discovered that what is actually happening is that the registry key with those policy settings gets deleted every time the server reboots.
