Here's a thread with someone who has the exact same problem. It is a lengthy explaination, but they did manage to get rid of it (may have to scroll down the page a bit):

Let us know if any of this helps.

Your log shows that the PC is infected with a CoolWebSearch variant(entry "O19 - User stylesheet: C:\WINNT\my.css"). Go download the Cool Web Shredder program (CWShredder) at the following link:
http://www.spychecker.com/program/cwshredder.html
This will fix your hijack browser problem.

Hold down the F5 key during the boot process and it should go directly into Safe Mode. You can also hold down the F8 key during the boot process which will give you a boot menu from which you can choose Safe Mode. Hope this helps.
I'd say your floppy cable is damaged. Specifically the pin 34 wire (the outside wire of the ribbon cable that is NOT marked with a red stripe). It's either that or the floppy drive isn't sending a signal down the Pin 34 wire (bent or broken pin on the motherboard or the floppy drive itself)...
I'm no expert, but I see some correlations to a variant of Coolwebsearch. The O1-Hosts and R1-HKCU\Software\...\Main,Start Page_bak definitely seem related to this. Is your IE homepage changing to Searchv.com or any page changing to Searchv.com? May want to check out this link...

It may be that the ACPI HAL is detecting hardware incorrectly. Two things you can try when you see the screen during install that says "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver". You can press F5 which will allow you to choose the appropriate HAL for your...
If you want to put Windows 98 back on the drive. Download the utility delpart.exe (http://www.russelltexas.com/delpart.htm). Use this to remove the NTFS partition created by Windows 2000. Boot from your Windows 98 Start Disk and use FDISK to recreate the partition, then reboot (very important...
Had the same prolem once with a Compaq Armada laptop. Not sure how far you want to take it, but we had to take the laptop apart and disconnect the battery to the motherboard. There is a wire under the keyboard that connects to the battery. Removing the wire connector and replacing it again...
In the very begining of the install process, Windows 2000 asks about the different controllers in your PC (usually shows the IDE controller). At that point, did you load the SCSI drivers for the Adaptec controller you have? They should have come on a floppy disk with the card.
The 0x00000051...
Bugcheck errors are usually identical to Stop errors. The error message (0x00000076) is referring to a driver that is encountering a locked memory page. You need to track the locked page so you can determine what driver is causing the problem. Then I would suggest updating the driver in...
Download and run the tool known as "sysprep" from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/tools/sysprep/default.asp
Reboot and it will re-run the final part of the installation again, asking you for a CD Key. Hope this helps.
Roaming Profiles will solve your problem. Drawbacks are that you will need storage space on your server/network and your network will need to handle the increased activity during logon periods (usually first thing in the morning and after lunch).
If you just want to do this to a specific PC...
