I have a compaq armada m700 and I tried to remove it's power on password. I went into bios and removed the password. I basically entered the old password and set a new one of blank. Now the laptop still asks for the password but wont accept blank!!! help me as I am now locked out of my laptop!

Had the same prolem once with a Compaq Armada laptop. Not sure how far you want to take it, but we had to take the laptop apart and disconnect the battery to the motherboard. There is a wire under the keyboard that connects to the battery. Removing the wire connector and replacing it again should set the BIOS back to their default settings (eliminating the password protection altogether). If you are not confident with doing this on your own, take it to someone who is (taking apart a laptop can be a scary ordeal). Hope this helps.

thats great thanks for the info, it worked a treat! I had thought that this would not work for laptops for some reason.
cheers
