Maybe what you need is to understand how the workbook is shared . .

Marc said it depends which I agree, what's my concern is the basis of supplier A. Maybe you have several BE's. The only certain in this scenario is FE does not require much disk storage.
The purpose of DFS is to replicate to other servers and sites. So the solution there is the scheduling/timing/sitecosting of the replication. If you don't want that then don't include the share in the DFS root.
steveandon,
dearingkr and Linksys Tech Support are both right. The reason the you can't go to internet is that the hardcoded DNS setting is not working(big possibility).
Assuming ping ports are open.
Do this test and post the results.
1. ping www.yahoo.com
2. ping 66.94.230.44
Check performance monitor, there's a lot(counters) things you can check there to give you an idea of what's happening. Check up network traffic, you can also download evaluation 3rd party tools like http://www.sniff-em.com/sniffem.shtml and evaluate the results.
If you can't find anything then...
It is NOT recommended to install Exchange Server 2003 on a computer that is also a Domain Controller?

This is my observation, the moment you share the device thru printserver box most of the feature (monitoring, diagnostics, special programs/functions/calibration) can't work anymore. You can only do that if you attach the PC directly to printer thru USB or Parallel (LPT1) cable.
What about...
If you already use ip address then it's not DNS anymore. XP Sp2 feature is a firewall enable as a default. Most probably the ports you need are close. You can Ping because Ping is using a different port number.
Convert that setup apps to MSI, and deploy it in group policy, assign application to computer not user .
Convert setup apps to msi.
On the W2K Server/Advanced Server CD is a copy of WinInstall LT. You can use WinInstall free of charge to make custom MSI from any executible.
Or...
Use DCPROMO on the command prompt but before that check that DC if it's holding all or 1 of the FSMO roles and transfer it to a different DC.

Opps I think I miss your question:
Answer 1:
Like Winoto said DNS ADIZ is just nice.
Answer 2:
With 30/10 Users, no disadvantage using a single lable domain name.
Your main concern there is the speed of your WAN link, schedule of your replication and how many times it will replicate in 1 hour. Not only you need a DNS in your remote site you need 1 Global Catalog server as well.

I think something went wrong during the restoration. Did you restore completely including the system state? Can you tell us if possible the step by step how did you restore?
