Can only see icons in Add/Remove Programs applet

This is one of a few weird problems after a restore from HD failure:

1. In add/remove programs, you can only see the icons of install programs, and the last used on. There are no program descriptions

2. In Explorer, you can't type anything into any web text fields.

3. Windows update is hanging on scan.

Does anyone have any suggestions for any of these?

Since this is a DC,DNS,Exchange Server,ISA Server, I really could use a surgical solution.

I think something went wrong during the restoration. Did you restore completely including the system state? Can you tell us if possible the step by step how did you restore?

Yes this was a system state and then file restore.

I just got off the phone with Microsoft. They had me reinstall Internet Explorer. All problems solved.
