Hardware:
HP 3030 Laser Multifunction
DLink DP-301U Print Server
2-Clients, both running XP Pro
CompUSA 4-port DSL/Cable Router

Both computers can print, tried installing the HP Printer Software that came with the printer - hoping we could fax through the newtwork and scan from the scanner capability of this MFN. Software can't seem to find the printer on the network, whether I enter the IP Address, Host Name, or do an Auto-search.

Any ideas?

It tells me exactly what the software tells me .. search for the printer automatically, configure meanually (enter ip, host name, or address). I have all that info off the Windows Printer Test page, but it still can't find the printer.

NOTE: I can print from each client, through the TCP/IP port I created, as well I can ping the print server.

It looks like its only supported with HP Jetdirect External Print Servers, not the D-Link one.

This is my observation, the moment you share the device thru printserver box most of the feature (monitoring, diagnostics, special programs/functions/calibration) can't work anymore. You can only do that if you attach the PC directly to printer thru USB or Parallel (LPT1) cable.

What about don't use the D-link, you connect the printer directly to your PC and share it over the network, what will happen?
