SX 50 Printer Setup help 1

Can some one please help me set up Okidata 320 Printer to SX 50 System. I've tried connecting cables and programming as book says, but still doesn't seem to be working.

i'll use different printer and use same cable...and do some testing ...but have to get a printer from other property...

Printer works..I attached printer to computer and it does print test pages...So, I am sure cable works too. I tried flipping Switch 4 located right above sx 50 rs 232 port..

I guess something in 50 isn't right...

switch 4 must be open for smdr. Did you try the*97 7772?????

what i do *97 7772 something appears next to data dump..its cmd 100. what do i do ?

It said printer dead a few seconds after i fliped the switch...right now its open though...

at that time it should be dumping the program out the port. You did do a *75# right????
If you feel that all the program is correct and your cable and printer are ok then possibly a 30 second shut down of the SX-50 as the port may be stuck, and the *75# will not force it to print.
If this is a hotel.motel also try a *82 for room status printout.

printer dead means it cannot see the printer.

try a *750 then a *75# and then the *82 if you have room status enabled.

Tried that too. Still not working...On hyper terminal, cursor keep blinking...nothing is appearing from 50 or printing on okidata

talked to the old owner...he said they used a phone line to get data from sx 50. I've seen sx 20 people doing same thing...they have a phone line connected to their computer. And their call accounting software updates all the calls to PMS.

I thought you said the printer worked from your computer, if that was set up serial and at 1200 8N1 it should work, try it.

ya it worked when I installed okidata driver on computer and tried printing something from notepad...it was just a simple testing to see if printer works at all...

so you connected that printer and cable to the 50 and it doesn't work?

no...But the same printer works when I connect it to PC and try to print something else...

I printed settings from printer, it says 9600 boud rate...i change the settings in 50 to 9600 in command 100 r16(i think)...but still doens't work.

I talked to other sx 50 user, they have some kind of blak box between printer and 50. I don't know what that is for...Are you familiar with it ?

the black box could have been a data demulitiplexer but not needed. So in com 100 R16 bit d is a 8 ???
