Can some one please help me set up Okidata 320 Printer to SX 50 System. I've tried connecting cables and programming as book says, but still doesn't seem to be working.

I am leaning toward cable, do you have another one or can you do the continuity check?

You know what, I'll just make one...Give me 2-3 days..

Connections are : Pin 1 to Pin 1, and Pin 2-2, 3-3 etc right ???

Okay, talk to you again in two days...in a mean while, one question, some of the room extentions are not getting dial tone....do I need to reprogram them ? and one of them is making noice but not getting dial tone...sirence noice...

no dial tone could be a number of things, one is when the control card is pushed into the power supply it does not seat well so I would hold the power supply while pushing in the control card, you may want to try reseating it. The no dial tone could also be cabling or a card. To prove this is if you have two line cards frog or swap them and see if the trouble moves, you could also do this with the cable that connects to the line card to see if that is it. These procedures should isolate your trouble.

made a cable...still same problem. but it seems like 50 is communicating with printer...when I change 9600 to 1200 and try *82, it says printer dead...but when I change it back to 9600 and try again, nothing happens..no error msg on console..

did you change the speed from 9600 to 1200 in the 50 or the printer. This may seem a dumb question but on the printer there should be two connectors, one parallel and one serial (the one on the serial board) and you are plugged into the serial???
When is says printer dead that would mean to me that DTR isn't high, is there a switch setting on the printer to set DTR high, most printers have this.

Yes, I chnage the speed to 1200...Right now everything is unhooked...cause employees got tired of alarm' msg saying "printer dead"..I went to other property and looked at their connections...They have just 2 wires(out of 25) comming out of rs232 25pin going to data demultiplexer...and from there one 25 pin cable to printer...do you think that will work ??

they are probably using pins 2 and 7, can you take your cable and printer to the other property to isolate?

hey,
i am sorry to keep bothering you about different problems...got a call from same property we were working with printer problem...problem is, one card is keep shutting off...light on the card is blinking, tried restarting the whole syste but starts blinking after 10 minutes...what could the problem be ? any idea ? plus can't fing any tech here in south GA..

light on the card itself...and on console, it says "loop back error 04/13"...we've been having that error for a long time but never had light flashing on any of the ONS card itself..

you can do two things, reseat the card and see if it comes in or swap with another ons card in system and see if the trouble moves with the card.

MSG ON alrm console is: "A-22 0061 lINE LOOP BACK ERRO 04/13"

I changed the card slot from 04 to 07...and now i am getting same error msg on console with just a change from 04/13 to 07/13...

light is flashing on the same card itself..

04/13 means card slot 4 circuit 13 and now you have moved the trouble to card slot 7 circuit 13. Bad card
