Can some one please help me set up Okidata 320 Printer to SX 50 System. I've tried connecting cables and programming as book says, but still doesn't seem to be working.

its 25 pin male to make parallel/serial cable.

are you sure that your computer com port is 25 pin and not 9 pin male?
Do you have a 9 pin male port on your computer?

No, I only have one port which is 25 pin female. it needs 25 pin male for connection. There is no 9 pin on this computer...only one port...all others are USB..this is laptop i am checking with...

Have you ever done any programing from that port say on a SX200EL or ICP or do you have another printer that you know works that we can try? I would like to see if it is the 50 or the printer/computer we are troubleshooting.

i think old owner used to have call accounting software on computer and i thinkthey used same port...

there is a red socket right above 232 output on 50...does it have anything to do with 232 ?

there is only one rs-232 port on the switch. Does the owner still have the computer?
With com 100 R16 set to 16040810 and *75# then a *97 7772 you should see data comming out the port at 1200 8N1.
The cable is straight thru for sure?

No he took it with him.
ya cable is straight

what are the switch setting on the red switch above the rs-232 connector set to?

switches are good, switch 4 is the one that has to be open to dump out the rs-232 port.
I would say the switch is ok, now we have to make sure that your computer is setup right.
Are you sure it is?

terminal is set up to 1200, 8, none, 1 , and hardware

let me go to the store again tomorrow and make sure it is straight thru cable...i a 99.99% sure its straight, but i'll go check it again.

missing something from meter...i'll get new one tomorrow and check it out...

if you have anywhere you can confirm that the pc and cable are working that would be good.
