I have an IP office 500 v2 with the latest version 6 of voicemail pro and the ip office os. When listening to the system attendant or anything involving sound on the phones or headset, the voice cuts out for 5 to 8 seconds. This did not do this on version 5 of the OS. This is a version 6 related problem everything else is the same. It is not flow control issue, I have tried 3 different pc's we have changed the ip 500 unit out twice. I saw someone else had this same issue but it didn't seem like it was resolved. We have a gigbit cat 6 lan with cisco enterprise switches. This is not a speed issue. The voicemail pro pc has no virus protection, no firewall, no screensaver, no themes no background working threads. We have gone to extreme lengths to ensure that there is no networking issues. I do not think this is a network issue only because the sound comes back after 5 to 8 seconds of waiting. This doesn't happen all the time. We even when one step further to prove it is not network related. I made sure that the only two items plugged into our network were the ip office and the voicemail pro pc. This problem still happens even if the they are the only two pieces of equipment plugged into the switch. I am at a total loss. I have tried everything I know in the networking world to fix this issue. I am hoping someone has some ideas........

Thanks in advance

Chris

OK, when you have Lan2 free then put a switch on it and put the VMPro machine on it and an IP Phone on it.

Make some test calls.

If that doesn't work then disconnect the ipo from the network and try again.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Calls are always fine. We never have any trouble at all with calls. It is just a 5 to 8 second silence in the attendant or when checking voicemail. That is what is so frustrating is everything else works.

You need to find the cause of this and it needs some testing.
I suggest to take the ipo out of the network and only connect one phone and vmpro on 1 switch.
Make some test calls to the vmpro machine and see what happens.
When it works then it is not the machine or the ipo.

Perhaps you already told us but what version vmpro are you using ?

ok here we go again. I took the ipoffice and took all the phones off of it. I hooked the ipoffice directly to the voicemail pro pc. The attendent cuts out it is that simple. The cable is a brand new patch cable out of the box. So it must be something else. I have tried a new network card in the pc and slowed it down to 100 half duplex. No matter what I do if I have a voice mail pro pc connected it fails. I am amazed that that is the only issue and still I am going to hear network issues. Anyone with some fresh ideas or a way to find out what is happening when the voice cuts out?

I would say that if you have taken the IP office and the PC off the network and connected them directly together and have same issue and you have replaced the PC and nic cards... The only other thing I have not seen in this post is that you have replaced the IP Office itself.. Has than been done and I missed it?

You need to answer the questions we ask and not stamp your feet so much. 100 meg full/auto is what it needs to be not half, uninstall VM then put the latest version of VM on after having done all windows updates that may be pending, as I and others are using that release without this issue I doubt it's the software, if the issue persists it has to be something you are loading onto or applying to the pc's. The system must be ok if all calls are ok, you never did confirm if this is an imported config that may have been corrupted by using Remote desktop. If it is you are just pi55ing into the wind trying to fix it.

BTW, if this was installed by someone qualified to do so then get them back, if you self installed get someone in, I reckon I would have this cracked within 5 mins of being onsite :)

On thursday I did replace the unit. As far as using remote desktop to connect to the ip office the answer is no I did not nor have I ever used remote desktop. This voicmail pro / manager machine is right in front of me. I formatted the pc on friday and set the ethernet to 100/auto and half and full and gigbit that makes no difference. I am not stomping my feet on this. I am just banging my head against a brick wall and it hurts. We are a computer outfit we use computers every day install networks and write software for over 200 clients. I have tried everything with this there has to be a setting that is missed or something. I really do not want to start a config from scratch. The only thing in common is that I imported the setting from the old ip office to the new. There were no error in the transfer. The other strange thing is that if I just plug lan1 in and the ip office on the network I get a message from time to time that it cannot communicate with the ip office and to retry. This happens when I try to connect thru the manager software. I am sorry I am very frustrated with this but it should not be this hard to fix something this simple. I would understand if the ipoffice didn't work but it does.

I am using the latest version 6 of everything voicemail pro and the ip office software. This all started when I upgraded to version 6 in the first place. Version 5 did not do this.

I have no firewall or virus protection on the voicmail pro pc. There is no third party software and it is using windows 7 ultimate. There is nothing but the manager software, status, voicemail pro software on this pc. There is nothing eles on this no MS Office, nothing at all. Bare bones os and avaya software only.

VMPRO6_0_44
ADMIN6_0_18

Those are the version. This has happened on every version of version 6. Version 5 didn't do this ever.

I have seen people tell me that they use the latest 5.0 but it turned out to be 5.0.8 which is the first one.

Please tell me if you use 6.0.22 or 6.0.44
This is very important.
Also when you cannot communicate normal with the ipo then you have a problem in your network or config.

When you import the config and you have problems then default it and start all over again.

A simple test is to default it and setup vmpro and test again.

Quickly roll it back to R5 then, if it goes away it's software related. And then you need lots of traces and can escelate it to Avaya, as there is no difference in settings between R5 and R6 that would account for this behaviour :)

I still think it is very strange.
It should work normally.
I have not seen any issue with vmpro related to delay in speech.

That is what I have been saying. I don't know why it is just my vocimail pro machine. That is why I am thinking there is setting of some kind that is causing this.

I am planning on taking the old ipoffice and putting version 5 back on it. If it works I hate to be stuck in version 5 land. My license for version 6 has twinning and other things.

I would personally use the new one but then in default state.
This way you will be sure if it is hardware or software related.
Then you can always use the old unit.
Just login and default it.
Then setup an extension and vmpro and have a test.

Ok no internet and no access to my email from my voicemail pro pc. Now that I have it setup on it's own network.

Network

192.168.1.200 Internet Gateway
192.168.1.1 Internal DNS Server
192.168.1.4 Internal Exchange Email

IP Office

192.168.1.254 Lan1 IP
192.168.2.254 Lan2 IP

Voicmail Pro PC

192.168.2.252 IP
192.168.2.254 Gateway
192.168.1.1 DNS IP

What are the routes I need to make sure my Voicemail pro pc has internet and is able to send mail via 192.168.1.4 internal email server.
