I have an IP office 500 v2 with the latest version 6 of voicemail pro and the ip office os. When listening to the system attendant or anything involving sound on the phones or headset, the voice cuts out for 5 to 8 seconds. This did not do this on version 5 of the OS. This is a version 6 related problem everything else is the same. It is not flow control issue, I have tried 3 different pc's we have changed the ip 500 unit out twice. I saw someone else had this same issue but it didn't seem like it was resolved. We have a gigbit cat 6 lan with cisco enterprise switches. This is not a speed issue. The voicemail pro pc has no virus protection, no firewall, no screensaver, no themes no background working threads. We have gone to extreme lengths to ensure that there is no networking issues. I do not think this is a network issue only because the sound comes back after 5 to 8 seconds of waiting. This doesn't happen all the time. We even when one step further to prove it is not network related. I made sure that the only two items plugged into our network were the ip office and the voicemail pro pc. This problem still happens even if the they are the only two pieces of equipment plugged into the switch. I am at a total loss. I have tried everything I know in the networking world to fix this issue. I am hoping someone has some ideas........

Thanks in advance

Chris

Something else I should mention. When this happens and the voice just stops it stops for everyone using the system. So if you are listening to a voicemail and someone else is listening to the attendant it stops for all people. It doesn;t pause or hesitate the message keeps laying you just don;t hear any voice then 5 to 8 seconds later you can start hearing the voice again.

Don't suppose you use remote desktop on that pc do you or used it to upgrade?

I am thinking of reinstalling the os and perferming a fresh installation of voicemail pro.

Remote desktop will goose vm good and proper and if it has the database can't be imported it must be rebuilt unless you have a backup pre dating it's use :)

What happens if the network is pretty busy like people are downloading lots of files? I am trying to connect to the ipoffice and it says gives me a failure then retry. It has done this now about six times.

It doesn;t seem like it can handle a busy network is that true? My network is busy at times and when it is busy and I try to connect to the ipoffice it gives me a network failure.

Does SSA show any qos alarms? A good low latency network will moot have many if any.

No I do not have qos setup. I am using analog trunk lines. So would it be best for me to install my voicemail pro pc on lan2 to prevent it from having any network issues with the regular part of my network and if so how do I get that route to work for my internet? I am downloading windows 7 x86 right not to reload that voicemail pro pc.

If your system is less than 90 days old it's free otherwise it is a paid upgrade, make the system routes as I described above then on the pc make the ip office the default gateway

Formatted the pc and reloaded everything new. Still makes no difference.

Can someone help me with the route on this thing. I am making my lan1 192.168.1.254 subnet 255.255.255.0 and lan2 192.168.2.254 subnet 255.255.255.0. The voicemail pro pc is 192.168.2.252 and the gateway is set to 192.168.2.254. The route is 192.168.2.254 and the gateway is 192.168.1.200 on lan1. I cannot get the internet to work.

Can you also tell us what OS you use?
Can you also post the specs of the machine and is it running other applications too?

When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

There are no routes currently. The pc is new pentium 3Ghz, 2gb ram, windows 7 untilmate 32 bit edition. No firewall, no virus protection and no other applications at all. I made it as simple as possible.

for the VM on 192.168.2.252 to access the web

1) default gateway of VM needs to be 192.168.2.254 (obviouskly DNS needs to be set too)
2) IP office needs a route
IP - 0.0.0.0
SN - 0.0.0.0
GW - 192.168.1.100
Int - LAN1

Take Care

Matt
I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
