I have an IP office 500 v2 with the latest version 6 of voicemail pro and the ip office os. When listening to the system attendant or anything involving sound on the phones or headset, the voice cuts out for 5 to 8 seconds. This did not do this on version 5 of the OS. This is a version 6 related problem everything else is the same. It is not flow control issue, I have tried 3 different pc's we have changed the ip 500 unit out twice. I saw someone else had this same issue but it didn't seem like it was resolved. We have a gigbit cat 6 lan with cisco enterprise switches. This is not a speed issue. The voicemail pro pc has no virus protection, no firewall, no screensaver, no themes no background working threads. We have gone to extreme lengths to ensure that there is no networking issues. I do not think this is a network issue only because the sound comes back after 5 to 8 seconds of waiting. This doesn't happen all the time. We even when one step further to prove it is not network related. I made sure that the only two items plugged into our network were the ip office and the voicemail pro pc. This problem still happens even if the they are the only two pieces of equipment plugged into the switch. I am at a total loss. I have tried everything I know in the networking world to fix this issue. I am hoping someone has some ideas........

Thanks in advance

Chris

I installed the system. It wasn;t that hard :) I have 20 years programming experience. Really it isn't that hard to setup. Like I said this works just fine. Ihave mobile twinning and everything works. This is my only issue.

I have email thru exchange and it send the messages to our 12 iphones. There are some really great things that woprk great. It is just this issue I can;t get to go away. To compound the issue our customers and employees drive me crazy about it. I am willing to try anything but I think one pc one phone and the ip office in on switch with nothing else connected and it still doesn't work is crazy.

I was told to use the second lan to connect directly to the voicemail pro pc. I have not tried that yet. Well I tried it but it doen't connect. I know I didn't set it up right. I am not sure how to set that up since the wan port has an address and the pc has an address. I would say I would have to use the routing tables in the ip office to get internet access to that pc and to get it connected.

Right now I have both ports plugged in to the switch and I have nat off and no dhcp because I have my own dhcp server that we are using. The firewallis not turned on at all either. If I disconnect the lan2 from the switch then I can;t use the manager to connect to the ipoffice it tells me that it times out trying to find it.

just swap the lan 1 and lan 2 addresses round, turn off dhcp on the second lan port and move the cable.

you don't need to touch the ip routes.

you can try just plugging the pc straight into the lan2 port but it shouldn't make a difference.

When I plug the pc directly in lan 2 they no longer communicate. I cannot ping the base unit from the manager pc. I decided to order another unit tomorrow and have it shipped here. I am going to try to replace it and go from there. The bas unit should be the only thing that shoudl cause this correct? That is if it is hardware.

yeah but you could have tested it before getting another unit. up to you i guess.

lan1 and lan2 have different ip addresses so obviously just plugging it in isn't going to get it to work.

why cant the people selling you the hardware sort this out for you?

Everyone has tried to help with this. Everything I see online says it is hardware so for 375 dollars I am just going to replace the unit and go from there. It has to be something like that for sure. Thanks everyone for your posts they were helpful. Helped me decide to replace my main unit :)

When you have only one phone and the vmpro machine on a separate switch then i also think it is the vmpro machine.
What brand is the server ?
It sounds like Dell trouble to me :)

This is not the only voicemail pro pc that I have tried. I tried a systemax pc, a dell pc, and an hp that we had. We are a computer company so pc are easy to find. All three pc's did the exact same thing. Like I said I have tried everything that I know to try.

What version 6.0 vmpro do you use ?
What version is your ipo on ?

The lastest maintenance release of both like 22 and 18 or something like that

VMPro must be at 6.0.44!
So i would upgrade the box and see what happens then.

New ip500 unitarived and I installed it. Same problem nothing has changed. I have noticed that when two people are calling in at the same time it happens more often. I am at a loss. I have never seen anything like this. I am sure everyone is going to say to go get me a windows 95 machine and put 200 on it so I can slow down my voicemail pro pc so that it will work. I have tried different networking card everything. I am at a total loss.

Indeed, sounds like you have changed everything except the switches/network (as bullet proof as you think it may be), take that out the equation just for testing and see if it goes away, if it does leave it on the second LAN port direct and then ponder the issue with the network :)

That does nothing at all. Let me explain what I have here. I have a network with 1 DHCP windows server, 1 File Server, 1 UNIX server, 1 Active Directory server, 1 Exchange server. I have DHCP on my windows server on. I have DHCP on both Lan1 and Lan2 disabled. I have lan port 1 set to 192.168.1.254, I have lan 2 set to 192.168.1.253, I have my voicemail pro pc set to 192.168.1.252. Lan 1 is plugged into my switch. When I plug the Voicmail pro pc into lan 2 directly, I do not get internet or anything on that pc. I cannot communicate with the ipoffice any longer. I have the firewall off and nat off on lan2. To the best of what I can see without setting up routes on the ip500 I have no way of ever seing my network again. When I connect it right now it doesn;t work at all in lan2. If I plug it into lan1 it works fine but of course no phones.
