I want my users accounts to be set so a username can only be used to logon in the domain to one computer at a time. That is so a user cannot share her username and password and still logon themselves. Does anyone know of a GPO setting that will accomplish this? Thanks. R. Henson CCNA,CCAI,MCP
I have had a similiar problem. I solved it by installing DNS on the domain controller and then pointing to the DNS member server address as a secondary DNS source. R. Henson CCNA,CCAI,MCP
Thanks bronto I was afraid of that. The machines must be able to use media player so I cant do it that way. I already use the feature you mention to stop the users from playing pinball and the other M$ games. be well thanks R. Henson CCNA,CCAI,MCP
In a w2k Active Directory Domain a machine must know where to get DNS and used DNS to find the Domain Controller to join the domain.DNS is the heart and soul of Active Directory. R. Henson CCNA,CCAI,MCP
Consider which of the FSMO roles that the DC ran. Sorry to answer with a link but it explains it and can give you an idea to start with. Also was the DC the global catalog server. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=255690 R. Henson CCNA,CCAI,MCP
Install DNS, I am not sure if it matters which box it runs on but I put it on the first box I brought up. Until you get DNS correct Active Directory will not function.
I am having the exact same situation that lbrown describes. I have one domain controller doing the job. users are successfully authentication and group policies are running without a hitch. But when I try and add the second domain controller. I get the same result larry does. I can add the...
This smells suspciously like a DNS issue. Review your event viewer to see if that sheds any light. Do you see all your client machines in the DNS cache? Also I have had luck stoping then starting the DNS service. Uninstalling DNS then reinstalling it. Use ipconfig /displaydns to view your dns...
I applaud your efforts to become certified. I passed the CCNA this spring. It is a moderately difficult exam. Testout has a study cd that is very helpful. www.testout.com. Be prepared to configure routers in a simulation environment. The cisco cert site has a example of what this will look like...
Ok I have resolved my issue. It had nothing to do with profiles or master browser issues. I reviewed the event logs and discovered I received a DNS warning each time I attemped user log ons. Even though I get DNS from the WAN, the Domain controller was having DNS issues. So I launched DNS and...
When I log in with a user account it takes approx 15 min. I thought it might be a master browser issue so I used regedit to set a registry value to make sure the domain contoller was elected as master browser. I deleted all the user accounts and hand added a user account. It still took 15 min...
