Server Removed

We had a server die that was a Domain Controller. It's still listed in AD as a domain controller, and the remaining DC is squaking to event viewer that it can;t reach the old server.

Can I just go to AD, DCs, and delete the DC that is no longer in operation ? Tyrone Lumley

Consider which of the FSMO roles that the DC ran. Sorry to answer with a link but it explains it and can give you an idea to start with. Also was the DC the global catalog server.

Just to add to this, once you've sorted the FSMO roles (or if the DC wasn't running any), you can remove the DC from Active Directory using this procedure:
