It would be best to use "Control Userpasswords2" as it will encrypt the login information. Having passwords in plain text passwords in a registry is never a good idea. Just my 2 cents.
FYI, CTLSVR scans all dates subs in the aloha(qs) folder for the marker file GNDDBF30.XXX. if that is missing it grinds the folder.
So instead of stopping ctlsvr, you can just create the file GNDDBF30.XXX and CTLSVR will continue on to the Winhook (or ecomhook).
Then you can grind that...
I ran into this issue at a few of my stores. Try reinstalling MS c++2005 it may work for you. Sadly it did not work for me. In the end I downloaded the full install disk in ISO, and mounted it and installed it that way. I only needed disk one and not the generic aloha 6x disk.
It seems...
Well Can you print reports during the day from the terminal.
Were these 2 stores on a different version.
Sorry I wasn't much help, I don't run reports on my terminals, I run them BOH.
Are you having problems logging into Alohamgr? Try using a manager level user number as the login, it may prompt you to enter a new password.
Once logged into Alohamgr you can try to do a file server recovery. It is likely that the issue that caused the system to go down has not been...
Has this been resolved? If not check the date on the server. Then copy then data folder for back up purposes. Go to the data folder, Make sure there is an "OK" File. Open the ALOHA.INI find DOB change it to todays date (MM DD YYYY). Save the ALOHA.INI copy it into the new data folder...

First CTLSVR could have issues. What version of aloha are you using? You can get it from the screensave on the terminal it will be on the bottom. It will be 6.4.20 or something like that.
Regardless
1st Restart the sever. (I assume you have already done this, if not jump off a cliff)
2nd...
What OS are you running on the server? Table service or quick service?

Open a command prompt
Example
Taskkill /s TERM1 /f /im iberqs.exe
or if you don't know the computer name for the terminals type
arp -a
this will...
You would be better off calling a batch file that either checks for he existance of Calc.exe and activates it or simple kills previous tasks of calc.exe and opens it again. You don't want tons of calc.exe running in the background.
I have to wonder, what tips are they calculating?
Maybe they are the POS leader in some unrecognized country? Perhaps the company owns an island in Dubai and declared sovereignty.
Or maybe when I am bored I shouldn't be posting the first thing that pops into my head.
