You want to open the case up otherwise it won't get cleaned very well. Also spray into the power supply with the canned air so that it blows the dust out of that too, make sure you do it so the dust goes out the fan vent on the back of your computer and not into the inside of the case. I heard...
If you uninstall Norton Antivirus and then reinstall it the subscription will start over and you will get another full year. You will only need to run the liveupdate so you get all the updates from the past year again.
How are you configuring the IP address? If the IP address is static make sure that it is unique on the network. Also try switching the network card to make sure it is good.
What are you doing when the error message comes up? Also, before you reinstalled did you check your running programs to make sure 1. the "acrobat assistant" (AcroTray.exe) is not running the the background and 2. you uninstalled acrobat?
The heatsink will be located directly atop the cpu with a fan attached to it. Normally the heatsink comes paired with the fan so if you upgrade one the other gets changed too. Unless you are overclocking your cpu the stock heatsink and fan should be plenty adequate. One thing to ensure is...
A heatsink is a piece of metal, usually aluminum or copper, that has fins on it. It is attached to the cpu die with a thermal paste and retaining clip. It acts to pull heat out of the processor so it does not over heat. You will have a fan attached to the heat sink to blow the heat away from...
I would want to make sure your ram is not defective, or maybe you could use more of it. My observations have been the biggest performance gain from adding ram is when you get to 192 meg. More than that is great but less than that and things don't work as well. If you have only 64 meg try...
I used rain before with no problems. It did lower the cpu temp a few degrees based on unscientific monitoring. My understanding is that it tells the cpu to idle when it is not being used, even between keystrokes. This supposedly reduces cpu cycles and therefore heat. I would say that the...

What type of connection do you have? You may find some help by adjusting your RWIN settings and making sure windows scaling is turned on if you are using a fast connection. The problem is probably data loss on route from the server to you. There is a great free app that Cisco recommends for...
Have you tried booting from a startup floppy and running FDISK before installing Windows 2000? I had an issue when I first installed it on my machine and it would not install properly until I did that. Also just curious, did you try it with only one hard drive installed? Hope this helps.
I am not sure if this is your problem but I know that the instant messengers will also connect using the http protocols. Unless you block all access to your port 80 I don't know if you can prevent them from connecting.
