    Using PCI modem in hylafax

Bluegroper is correct. We use the USR 2977 or 2976 which is a hardware modem with Hylafax. Works "PERFECT 10" every time. It is a hardware PCI serial device. USR even has an rpm for installing the startup stuff if you dont want to do it your self. John G. Lynn

First if you dont need it turn it off. (/etc/rc.d/rc?.d) We have hundreds of rh62 servers with no need of apmd to run, or http or gpm or xfs or the other load of stuff that is not needed but must be installed for who knows what reason. The standard of "man apmd" will help you decide. If you...

Stuart, Today it is my job to do a very similar thing. I have a need to install an internal modem into a B50 running 4.3. Like you I have a Linux background. Also some SCO. The first thing ( i think ) is to choose a modem wisely. The USR 2977 is a PCI modem that is a hardware modem. No...

    red hat 7.3 installation question

Hi, It would seem that the loader does not really know where the "/" really is. Did you do an automated install or did you use Disk Druid ? The first couple dozen installs you sould use the automatic install. You will get the hang of this. John G. Lynn
