I wish to insert a print filter to capture the file that is printed so it may parsed and directed to a parallel application.

In linux my printcap line looks like this:
if=/var/spool/lpd/filter.sh

The filter looks like:

cat - | tee -a filename.$$

I have tried to put this in the printcap in SCO 5.0.6. without success. I have tried sco admin. (must be missing something).

I do need help, but if any one is aware of a SCO centric book or HOWTO regarding printing I would be happy to read it.

Thanks,

John G. Lynn

You can define a new local printer, says Capture1, with device /dev/null and model dumb. Then you can modify the interface script /var/spool/lp/admins/lp/interfaces/Capture1 to add a tee -a filename.$$ | lp -dRealPrinter command.

Hope This Help
PH.

Thanks,
I will give it a try in a couple of hours and let you know.
Thanks
