there was no PII300 version of the 5500. There was a common bios of the 66Mhz FSB, and a different one for the 100Mhz FSB 3000/5500, which is what you may be thinking of.
the system will F1 you only if there is a problem. Just bypassing it wont address the issue. I would suggest fixing the problem, rather than ignoring it and making the symptom go away.

you wont get the f10 message if there isnt a system partition on the drives.
remove that 3COM NIC and see what happens. I would suggest doing a system erase and starting from scratch.

SCU: System Configuration Utility. Yes, its on the system partition.
Best practices dictate that whenever a new component is added or removed from a system, update the NVRAM by way of the SCU. Failure to do so may result in partial device functionallity, or erratic behavior.

Renne ... SS 5.50 will not do 2003. It will do 2000. Just use 5.50 and do a manual integrated installation. At the end, put in your 2003 media and install. When you are done, just run the PSP 7.10 for 2k3 and you are at about the same place you would have been if 5.50 did 2k3.
