Yeah, turn on auditing on the individual workstation (via user manager). It will track logon attempts from a "locked" workstation as well as normal logon attempts.

Auditing needs to be turned on. If you guys have an NT server, the administrator should have already turned auditing on for failed/successful logons. If so, just check event viewer...security.

Is this a domain controller (PDC or BDC)? If you have a PDC and a BDC and this server is one of the two, then you shouldn't have to worry about usernames/passwords as long as you make sure that replication has occured.

I don't know about Novell but when an NT machine normally boots up it gives you a chance to use "Last Known Good" configuration. If you have that option, try it.
