    Outlook Web Access

I was able to solve the problem thanks to the iis logs. The errorcode 2148074242 led me to a technet article on Microsofts website. An enhanced security template was in place and IIS was refusing to allow pre-win2k workstations to logon. This is interesting, since it allowed our old Mac 9.2...

    Outlook Web Access

OWA seems to be a popular topic. At least it seems to cause a lot of us problems. We have some users that need to access our Exchange server via Outlook Web Access. Those who have Windows XP workstations seem to have no problem. However those that are using older NT or Win98SE workstations...

Exchange on DC - Need to change domains

I now know one of Many reasons why Exchange should not be installed on a DC. I didn't like it when we did it, but thats water under the bridge. Now I need to fix it. I have a Windows 2003 DC with Exchange 2003 Installed. We have our own domain, but share a forest with a former corporate...

    Alternatives to Brick Level backups

One method of doing Brick-Level backups other than using the Exchange Agent would be to use run a procedure that uses EXMERGE to export all the mailboxes to a directory. This would need to be done before each backup. The resulting PST files would then be backed up and would be available for...

    SP2 Intellegent Message Filter

Since installing SP2, the amount of spam reaching our end users has gone up dramatically. I turned on Archiving and have discovered that no messages are getting filtered out. The properties page in system manager for the virtual SMTP servers is no longer there. The Global Settings property...

    Arcserve 11.5

I received my new Arcserve 11.5 Upgrade disks and License keys today. Before I even think of upgrading I would be interested in hearing of any problems others have had with this upgrade? After the mess I had going from 11.0 to 11.1, I'm a little leary of just installing the update. Will my...

Move BDC server to new domain

Reinstall NT as a BDC in the new Domain. That is the only official solution. There are third party programs that supposivly will demote your BDC to a Member Server and then promote it to a BDC in the new domain... my experiance is using these is only asking for trouble. A reinstall is not...

Move NT4/ SQL7 Server from NT domain to new AD Domain

I'm not sure which of the several forums that this applies to ... NT4, SQL, or Win2003, but I'll ask here and hope someone can help. I have an NT4 member server running a specialized APP on SQL 7. Unfortunatly, I'm stuck with NT4 and SQL 7 for this app, , at least for the time being. I cannot...

Licensing - How many CALS will i need?

It actually gets more complicated than that. Microsoft sells two kinds of CALs for Exchange; Device Cals or User CALs. You either need a device cal for each machine or a user cal for each user.

Exchange server consistently shuts down during the weekend

It could be something real simple... IE... do you have a janitorial staff that cleans up over the weekend? If they need a place to plug in that vacume cleaner, they may not care that a server is already plugged in to that spot.

Unable to change password on this account (C00000BE)

Unable to change password on this account (C00000BE) Many but not all of my NT4 clients are receiving this error when attempting to change their password in my Win 2003 AD domain. I've searched technet and found only one mention of this problem with windows 2003 server, and testing shows it...

I am having some difficulty with the network browse list. I have a Windows 2003 AD Domain Controller. The DC is also setup as a VPN Server using RRAS. I have about a half dozen users with various desktop and laptop OS's (Win98, NT, and XP) coming in thru the VPN channels. The problem is...

Upgrade from NT4 to 2003 AD - do I need new Client Licence

Unfortunatly, yes... you need to buy new CAL's. That is one of the reasons many shops still run NT4, as the cost to upgrade is substantial.
