Hi,
I am doing an upgrade from NT4 to 2003 Server with Active directory. I currently have 200 Client licences on the nt4 server. Do I need to buy the Licences again for 2003 server or will the client licences upgrade as well

Thanks

Mark Spencer

I do beleive that you need to purchase new CALs. Windows NT 4 cals are only good on a Windows NT 4 server. Based on the fact that the CALs are called "Windows Server 2003 Client Access License" I would assume that yes you would need to purchase Windows 2003 CALs.

Unfortunatly, yes... you need to buy new CAL's. That is one of the reasons many shops still run NT4, as the cost to upgrade is substantial.
