The IPSI communicate with the active server. If you have 8720s and the remote PN looses connectivity with the active 8720 the 8720s may do an interchange and see if the other server in that pair can see the IPSIs. If the remote PNs cant see the second 8720 they may go into ESS mode assuming...

We had issues like this on remote PNs connected accross the WAN. There was an issue in the network. They had to upgrade the IOS on a Cisco router. It was tough to troubleshoot. Get some constant ping tests going if you don't have any other network troubleshooting gear.
Do you use Avaya for maintenance? If so, how long of a term? You are covered until the term is over and after that preferably before)you can negotioate support. There are other companies that can provide maintenance support if needed.
I have 2 PBXs DCSed together. PBX A is a G3R 9.5 with it's own Intuity. PBX B is a S8700 CM 3.0 with it's own Intuity.
I am on PBX B. When agent 3438 from PBX A calls me and leaves me a VM message the header on her voicemail message tells me the message is from mailbox 3438 on my PBX (PBX B)...
While in 615C emulation I press F3 then choose UNIX(r) system. Then log in as su root and perform the cmsadm.
The only problem with doing this backup during business hours is people can't log in while the backup is running.
What firmware on the Crossfires? We had a modem problem on any PN with Crossfire using FW 21. Went to FW 12 and the problem went away. Eventually went to FW 24 without incident.
Probably something in the station config. Either Audix name or LWC reception on page 2 of the station form. Check a working station and use those values.
I believe the doc in question is called:
VPNremote for the 4600 Series IP Telephones
Release 2.0
Adminstrators Guide
This is an Avaya doc so it should be on the Support section of the Avaya website.
We were running the new VPN load on 4610s at home through the Cisco 3000 VPN concentrator. After a month our the phones quit working. Apparently we need to load a WebLM server on our TFTP or HTTP server that hands out WebLM licenses in addition to the standard RTU in the PBX.
So if you want to...
Could be a number of things. Maybe a codec compatability setting between network regions. Under Audio options check your bandwidth setting. Try LAN as a setting. If that doesn't work try the Cable, XDSL, ISDN setting.
We had another outage with our digital phones in remote a remote PN again today. This time it was an unexplained interchange on the main S8710s that caused the problems with this particular remote PN. At the remote site there are 2 PNs. Digital sets on one of the PNs recovers well but digital...
We have a call center with multiple locations running CM3.0 ESS with G650 gateways and digital sets. The sites are tied together via a DS3 ATM network with redundant ATM switches at each location.
Recently we had an ATM switch at one of the sites go out of service causing a slight network...
If you have CMS and use the terminal emulator you could set up Timetables to change things around.
I set up Timetables to move certain VDNs to different holiday vectors based on when the groups close up for holidays.
I tried a USB handset that my Cisco sales rep gave me when we piloted CCM. Sorry but I can't remember the make or model but it worked fine with both the Avaya and Cisco softphones.
I definately prefer the 2 ear Plaintronics foldable headsets to the USB handset.
