I have a CM 3.X R013x.01.2.632.1. Some users are reporting that calls sound like they are "Under Water" or sound like a "Robot". Has anyone heard of this? Thanks in advance

We had issues like this on remote PNs connected accross the WAN. There was an issue in the network. They had to upgrade the IOS on a Cisco router. It was tough to troubleshoot. Get some constant ping tests going if you don't have any other network troubleshooting gear.

We had this problem and did all kinds of stuff to the network..(it was on IP trunking calls between our locations) we ended up upgrading all of the firmware on the CLans and Medpros and that is what finally fixed it.

Thanks for the quick replies! However these stations are NOT IP. They are digital stations. They are not hitting the WAN or network. They have received the underwater/robot sounds talking station to station-Station to VM and station to trunk.

Thanks

What do you need? Iam a newbe to this ipsi/medpro etc. I have 3 port networks. Each port network have 2 ipsi's and one medpro each. They connect to S8710's that are duplicated. I have CLANS in each PN. PN3 has two medpros

Hope this is enough
Thanks

If they are going between port networks, they would probably be using VoIP and the local network via medpros.

Row is correct. While everything is digital sets, if they traverse through gateways, the backplane is a VoIP connection...

Are your Medpros and CLANs nailed up at 100mbs and full duplex?

Yes the Medpros and CLANS ETAL are all nailed at 100/Full

Thanks again

If calls are going thru the Medpro I reccomend you try the firmware upgrade. It fixed our issue after trying all of the network/router settings...
Our levels are now below if you want to compare.
do list config all and you will see your firmware release:

CLan TN 799DP HW01 / FW0178

MedPro TN2302AP HW17 / FW 113

check if your's are a lot lower the FW is for firmware.
Our Avaya tech upgraded ours, so I can't tell you how to do it.

the CLAN firmware should be FW017 not FW0178 I made a typo.

Clans are at 17 the Medpros are at the latest 25

Thanks

This type of problem usually is a QoS issue. Try using QoS at the LAN between the MEPROs. Also make sure that cabinets are administered on the same ip-network-region, or at least they are using the same ip-codecs (if administered in different ip-network-regions).

Petran.

TO: All: After a boat load of testing, Tweaking QOS to Avaya recommendations that did not help. We were able to trace it to a pair of medpros. We replaced the medpros and all is quiet so far.

Details to follow if the problem returns

Thanks everyone for the help
