How many directories are located where Quark is trying load its template-not all 18,000? Worst case/Best case-fewer directories and no problem-some kind of timeout by either Quark :-) or the network stack reading all the directories?
What OS version are your Mac clients? Are they ALL the same...
I am looking for recommendations for NOC Data Center and facilities entry security systems that are proximity card based or similar technology, perhaps that can tie into Windows 2000 active directory or an LDAP. Please respond with URL or Brand Name.

1) Confirm SCSI Terminator is in place on SCSI bus or in the back of the CDR drive.
2) replace software driver extension for the scsi card and add a ~ at the beginning of the file name. You may have an Adaptec 2906.
3) look for problems with Toast CD driver extensions or Apple Disk Burner/...
I recommend the Linksys Cable/DSL Router line of switches (linksys.com). I have setup four of these units for 4 separate PC/Mac scenarios and I am not finding any problems with setup or maintenance.
Models BEFVP41 (4port VPN), BEFSR81 (8port), BEFSR41 (4port)

Ya, the 9308 and 8000M will not trunk over gigabit fiber. I had the management blade on the 9308 setup for 2 fiber pipes to the 8000 and tied them together with a trunk. Within a few moments all traffic will stop on the LAN and you will see a few broadcasts and thats about it. In fact, the...
http://perdition.sourceforge.net/
Perdition is allows users to connect to a content-free POP3 or IMAP4 server that will redirect them to their real POP3 or IMAP4 server. This enables mail retrieval for a domain to be split across multiple backend servers on a per user basis. This can also be...

I am searching for info regarding redundancy and Sendmail or Exim. My goal is to have both SMTP and POP or IMAP running on a redundant host. We use Suse 7.2 and HP Netserver LPR. If you have any URLs for these issues please post them. I want to setup a "cluster" but not for speed...
About disconnecting a AD DC, if you haven't assigned it any role responsibilites (ie: global catalog), it just has the same copy of the directory that was syncronized via sessions that the other servers will have and I would think it should run fine on its own network. The active directory has...
The domain controller model for active directory makes all domain controllers equal in importance even though you may assign some roles (global catalog/infrastructure) to specific servers. NT domain controllers can function on the active directory model in the same domain but you must upgrade...
Why not run two primary Active Directory controllers, get normal backups of the other servers everynight and restore one when necessary. If you need real time backup and restore, products exist that handle that by sending data to a cache drive where the backups run throughout the day...
Our mac users are getting locked out of folders delivered to their home folder area by other users.
We're using Parent Active Directory user logins on this Child Active Directory File Server. I will revert this server back to a member server at a later time.
You may know that unlike Windows...
What kind of entry in DNS /Bind (Windows 2000 actually) makes the www.foo.com server answer when someone only asks for http://foo.com?
Or is that a technology other than DNS making that happen? I have wondered this for years. ...............................
Thanks, Gary
