MS Project 2013 - Manually set up the finish date ???

In order to have Work in Project, you need to create resources. Go to the resource sheet and add both resources. You will need to change the Project calendar as it is not 30 working days between April 1 and April 30. You will need to make every day a working day (to include Saturdays and...

    Summary Milestones

So, without IDs - you want the task "break ground" to show the earliest of any of the break ground tasks in each country? This is not something natively accessible in Project. You could do some grouping but you'd have to code the "break ground" tasks using a spare field and then apply a...

    Summary Milestones

Hi and welcome to the forum. I'm not sure I understand your question completely. Are the subtasks all grouped under the same summary task? Have you created a summary for each "country"? If so, the summary task start is the earliest start of any subtask and the summary task finish is the...

MSP 2007 -- HowTo Freeze Task Dates in an MPP file

John is correct. If you give someone an mpp file, they can change any field, see all data. There is no version of Microsoft Project that allows for the locking of fields. Sorry.

Saving an AutoFilter Condition to a New Filter

Hi Keith, Sorry - the list of tasks is alpha and I don't know of any way to change that. It still shows as alpha sort in Project 2013.

Saving an AutoFilter Condition to a New Filter

Sorry for the delay, Keith. So you have filtered for one specific Task? You can define a filter to equal a specific string.

Saving an AutoFilter Condition to a New Filter

Go to the filter drop-down at the top of the column. Choose Filters > Custom. Click Save in the Custom Autofiler dialog.

    Track Shipping

I agree with John. Create the "Place order" task linked F to S with the "Receive parts" task. Add a lag of x days to show the shipping. You might also consider placing a deadline on the receive parts task equal to the date the product has been promised.

    Global.mpt - Interchangeable between MSP2010 & MSP2013 ?

When you install Project 2013, it should ask if you wish to upgrade your global. If you wish to keep settings then you can upgrade versus a "clean" install.

    MS project custom field formula

Formulas cannot reference other task data. You can manually type the date into a spare date field and then calculate the difference there - but you cannot reference Task X finish date without using some coding.

How to add Summary values in new custom field...

Take a look at my reply to Grizz - second post in the thread. You'll need to select the option "Calculation for task and group summary rows" in the Custom Fields dialog window.

    Resource views not working

Does this happen with all files or just one? If just one - copy the view back from Global. File > Info, Organizer. If that doesn't work, it is possible your copy of global.mpt is corrupt. Exit Project. Find the copy of global.mpt in your user directory. Rename to GlobalOld.mpt and restart...

MSP 2010 - ResourcePool.mpp > "There is a problem with the Calendar name."

No Microsoft created documentation that I am aware of. I think the same concerns from Access apply to Project.

MSP 2010 - ResourcePool.mpp > "There is a problem with the Calendar name."

My guess is that there has been an interruption in the connection between your project file and the pool file through the WAN. If you open the files, make one assignment and save does it work? How stable is your WAN connection? Any slight interruption causes project (particularly older...

    microsoft project 2016

Can you give us a bit more to go on? Are you opening the file by opening Project, browsing to the file and opening?

How to set up different Overtime Rates

I'm afraid Project is really not designed that way. Overtime is specifically assigned per assignment - not per week - and each resource can only have one active cost rate and overtime rate per assignment. You can change cost rate tables per assignment and then assign that cost rate table in...

Hidding / Filtering Subprojects in 2010

There is a subproject File field but it only shows data for the inserted summary line. Filtering on that would still leave the subtasks. I think the Flag field is easier to use.

Hidding / Filtering Subprojects in 2010

I'm not following why a filter doesn't work. Drop in a Flag field and set the Flag on the tasks you wish to show to "yes". Then filter for only "yes". An autofilter should work just fine.
