Well, Richmond might be the median site, but it isn't the mean. DC kind of skews the numbers, but I'd guesstimate that with 3 from Raleigh, 1 from South Hill, 2 from Hopewell and 1 from DC the weighted average would be somewhere near Petersburg. But Richmond would work for me.

Excluding DC, I'd say that South Hill is actually a pretty fair meeting point - it is 75 miles from Raleigh-Durham Intl and 78 miles from Richmond Intl.

Higgins,

It's a good thing folks like you and TSDragon got me over (or nearly over) my "thin skin" days. Does this mean I'm not a "newbie?"

BTW: South Hill is cool with me.

Tim

([gray]H[/gray]),

I was hoping you wouldn't take offense. [smile]

The joke just came to me and I went with it, as lame as it might have been.

And I would say you are safely out of the 'newbie' stage. [thumbsup]

Back on topic:
I'll be out of town the next two weekends.

<back off topic already?!?>
Actually, Saturday, 10/22, is the Barbeque Festival in Lexington, NC. My girlfriend fiancée (I can't get used to that term) and I have wanted to go for several years but are committed to doing it this time. Perhaps one of you is going? Let me know if you are, maybe we can meet up there.
</off topic>

Ok, seriously back on topic now:
So, the last weekend of the month is out for Dollie - and it's Halloween, so that might be busy for others as well. So, my next available weekend for a road trip would be November 5.

How's that work for all y'all?

Come on, CC. Forget about the games. Book your flight now!

Seriously, maybe we could meet at a sports bar.

I wish I could. I would love to get back to that part of the country, even if for only a day or two. I lived in Asheville for four years, one year at Chapel Hill, and I was stationed in Goldsboro (Seymour Johnson AFB) for a almost two years.

CC,

John, it would be beyond cool if you could attend the RTP Invitational (this, BTW, is your invitational).

As an incentive, I'll give you my (and, what the heck, even Higgins') share of the Biltmore Estate. We'll even rename Seymour Johnson after you. Non-denominational this time (okay, that was the lamest "Pope" joke ever; sorry!)

Tim

You can keep Seymour Johnson, Ft. Bragg, and Pope as well, but hey, I'll settle for just a wing of the Biltmore Estate, and a garden or two - that would be just fine. :)

I drive an '03 Prius and would be happy to drive. It will fit three Trianglites Trianglonians folks from the Triangle just fine for a short road trip, as long as one of you is less than 6' tall.

At 6'4", 245, I fear I'd badly damage your vehicle. The word
"[red]car[/red]nage" comes to mind.

The insurance companies refer to this as a "Prius" condition.

Tim [yeah, yeah, I'm trying to smilie...]

BTW: I prefer "Troglodite."

Just to defend the Wonder-Prius: Well

I'm 6'2" and not a small guy, either - but I fit just fine. There would be plenty of head/leg room for you. The only problem would be leg room in the back seat since you and I would both have the seats all the way back.

PS - I considered trying to use some puns in response to your ever-clever contributions, but it is too late in the day for me to be witty.

November 5 is good.... where will it be? Are we still looking at South Hill?

I'm in North Raleigh, and Nov 5th is open for me.

I'm not sure why Food Lion is listed...

South Hill is just an idea. Richmond will no doubt offer greater variety. I haven't hung out in Shockoe Bottom in a while. Or is that area too trendy now?

I'm not trying to be in charge - think of me more as a facilitator. Wherever the group wants to meet is fine with me.

Personally, I vote for Food Lion. We can all wander the aisles eating cheetos and drinking beer. Until we get arrested. Woo-hoo!

.....pondering if there is a Toys R Us in South Hill... once we get kicked out of Food Lion for consuming all the cheetos and beer, we can head down and hit the hippety hops at Toys R Us!

We can run down the aisles of Food Lion squeezing the Charmin and yelling "it's too good for toilet paper!".

(I actually did this once with my sister and two of my brothers, all of us adults. Don't ask my why, but it was fun at the time, and alcohol WAS involved.)
