Here's what we did. We built an application (signon) so that users could add their own database login/pwd to their "accounts" for each database that has access. We disallow all users access to any of the generic database account.
The SDK app basically makes a user signon & authenticate. Then it...
You need to first identify where the problem is.
First, check to see if you content manager is running. Use this URL in customized for you environment
http://machinename:port/p2pd/servlet
If thru your browser you get a message that Content Manger is running, you can rule that out. If it says...
When we first installed, we had issues with incomplete table creation. Be sure to follow the directions for your database regarding user temporary space. Our DBA had to tweak a few things, and modify perms to that the correct spaces would be utlilized.
So you have two seperate installs, install A and install B. Each install uses Database XYZ for source data. Is this correct?
If yes, and you are using the same query, then I would certainly say the issue is within your Cognos setup or your physical machine configuration. I would consider the...
I suspect that your system forces users to change their passwords at some interval. Cognos Connection is not very smart. The first time you login, it saves userid/pwd for use later for scheduled reports. Once you change your pwd, there is no dynamic check to see if this pwd (the one you use at...
We have occasional report of that issue. To resolve, have user to into Tools=> Internet Options from IE and delete both Cookies & Files. It always seems to work for us.
We had to upgrade our Oracle clients to 9.2.0.3+ and also have our users on Imp 7.1MR3+. You need both pieces to make the issue go away...merely upgrading Oracle only or Impromptu only does not fix the issue.
Gary is correct. You can add a new output type to be generated at the next run time. You can set any property "globally" in the same manner as you set them individually. (Though there is not a global move that I have found...those go one by one.) Specifically use the "Select all" command in the...
I believe it is stating that your java (Tomcat, WebSphere, etc) cannot find a "class" definition that it needs. Unfortunately, the error is not very specific. If there are details which identify the missing class, check/reset permissions on that class. If there are no details, welcome to my...
Have you gone thru the Application logs from the system event viewer? If you encounter db errors, they are typically trapped there, vs. being returned to the upfront interface.
For the fun of it, launch impserver.exe from your server (cer3\bin)and run the report. Is this blank? Sometimes there...
There's not a single "stack" that is required. There's families of components that you can choose from. The list of supported products is on the Cognos website. In addition to the linux box (where I assume the report server/content manager will reside)you need a database for your content store...
Sorry, but there's not an easy answer. The hardware you need is based on the number of reports, complexity of the model, size/complexity of the database, etc. as well as your user base. Cognos can provide you a doc where you answer questions and they'll tell (or try) to tell you what might...
We ran into this as well. This is the fix from Cognos that finally worked.
1) Delete the "old reportset" directory including all *.gz files
2) Run 'iwrconfig -cmd resetReportSet "old reportset"'
3) Delete the Report Set from IWR Administrator
4) Republish the reportset & reports. (you will have...
I recommend that you log to an external database.(option in configuration...default is log to file) That way, activities are logged in a format that you can use. You may with to tweak the logging levels in CC till you get the level of information you need.
This is just a guess, but I would think the limit is defined by Adobe, not by ReportNet.
I'm glad I don't have your report on my server...I bet it takes quite a while to render!
You could maybe configure ODBC to use a text file, as long as these files are available to your server and you have defined them thru Framework Manager.
I would consider this a horrible solution though, and would not recommend this. By doing this, you would bypass benefits of having a...
Do you know your environment? Number of servers, where components will be installed, the OS, the webserver, the app server, the authentication source??
None of the components in the install is optional. You do have flexibility in how to install (what components where), as well as if you want to...
Nope, out of the box it is not possible.
You could probably develop something though, using a mix of the CRN SDK, a scheduling tool (ex Control M) and a good developer(s).
