This depends on the tape technology you are using. I.E. DLT has a long load/eject time so this number would need to be adjusted for that. However, I have not heard of 180sec though.
I understand that staging does not work well and from all indications on the "NetWorker Digest" you should consider an alternative. Search the NetWork Digest archives and you can read about the problems and solutions with staging.

Shaing a library is commonplace with networker. This works very well for many of us. However, backing up Novell clients to a storage node is only possible with version 4.2 of the NetWorker client. It is not possible on previous versions.
