Thanks John,
I have another question. Do I need to disable the D-channel to make this change? I am betting that I do. If so, will the backup D kick in automatically, or will I need to enable or activate it? I would like to get this done as soon as possible, but this is a mission critical route...
Good morning everyone,
I work on an Option 11C, running Sucession 3.0. There are 2 fiber expansion cabinets, and 2 IP expansion cabinets.
I have an existing ISDN span that consists of 2 T-1's. There is a primary D-channel on the first T-1, and a backup D-channel on the other. I am adding a...
You can get that information from the route data block, RDB. Go to LD 21
REQ: PRT
TYPE: RDB
CUST 0
ROUT x Where X=the desired route.
For Protocol types, print the CFN in LD 22;
REQ PRT
TYPE CEQU
Most of the information you are looking for is going to be in one or the other.
Good luck, JK
You need to identify a block of unused DNs in your switch that is big enough to accomodate the number of DIDs you require, then call your Telecom provider and ask them for numbers that fit that range.
REQ: PRT
TYPE: LUDN
CUST 0
DN <CR>
This will print out all unused DN's on your switch.

I had an issue with trunk to trunk transfers that sounds similar to what you describe. We had incoming ISDN trunks from Verizon, and wanted to transfer them through Symposium out a TIE to another call center. the transfer worked internally just fine, but when we called from an outside line, it...
I saw a Plantronics demo last year at Global Connect. The Sales guy said that to use the autoanswer feature, you had to use a headset lifter (sold separately). I don't know what model he was showing, but that could be why. JK
Some recording vendors don't require any ports on the switch itself. For example, Dictaphone's Freedom Digital Recording system only requires that the cross-connect for each recorded phone be looped through a set of 66 blocks. As johnpoole said, what are you trying to do?
JK
I don't know where this might be on the switch, but you should be able to get the ranges from the T-1/ISDN vendor. Then, go to load 20
REQ: PRT
TYPE: LUDN
CUST 0
DN: X Where X = the range you want to check. For, example, if you DID range is 5500-5599, enter 55 to get a list of available DN's in...
Hello Solstar,
Before doing anything drastic, check the BIOS settings and make sure the paralell port is set for two way comm. I believe the setting should be EPP, or something like it. Good luck, JK
I know that you loose line privacy on an SCR when the same number is assigned to an analog and a digital set. Is that the case with MCR as well? I found out about this the hard way when I programmed an analog conference phone with the same DN as the VP/GM. Just something to think about ;-) JK
Nortel also plans to make free upgrades available in the future, unless you are more than one version behind. In that case, they will expect large sums of money, and body parts as well. Not a bad reason to stay current ;-) JK
Hello Nortelnovice,
Check out this website: www.ghtrout.com
There is a good tutorial on BARS/NARS.
On an unrelatedy note, I have only been working on PBX's for about two years, but started out asking vendors questions and reviewing the manuals. I have since been to classes at global...
Good Morning,
You need to change an option on the phone itself. press the option key, scroll down to the "Live Dial Pad" option, and turn it on (select yes). Then, if you press a line key, or start dialing, the speaker phone will activate automatically.
Have a great day,
JK
Good Afternoon Everyone, I need to know how to set up a mailbox to accept messages from two or more different numbers.
I have a number that is forwarded from a remote site to a users phone at my site, but when it goes to VM, the Octel recognizes the original dialed number. I am being asked to...
This sounds like a call presentation class issue. Check the agents CPC.
On the general tab of the Call Presentation Class Properties page.
Is the "Return Call to Queue after" radio button selected? That is the only place I know of were this can occur.
There is a drop down box were the...
I use a company called Retrotel, located in Palm Desert California. They are right across the street from me, but I know they ship. They had a booth at Global Connect in June, and have a good reputation. You can contact them at
(760) 776-7573.
They also buy old phones as well. I have...
