You need to identify a block of unused DNs in your switch that is big enough to accomodate the number of DIDs you require, then call your Telecom provider and ask them for numbers that fit that range.
REQ: PRT
TYPE: LUDN
CUST 0
DN <CR>
This will print out all unused DN's on your switch.
In general, you are going to need to have two or three ranges, since the Telco sometimes can't, or won't give you the range you want. Good luck, JK
even if the dn range you need is used are reserved and the provider can't turn it loose. you can use your idc table in load 49.. if the only range you can get is 9xxx (using a 4 digit example).. the 1st digit 9 is a show stopper, but with a idc you can turn the 1st digit 9 to a number that works 7xxx with one entry... not as easy for your users.. my internal number in that case could be 7222 but you would have the external number of xxx 9222... you can usually get the number range you need if you can use more then a single nxx...
Were you trying to do this through the switch or through OTM? If you are attempting to add in OTM you right click on your "system window" under the sites tab. You then click on properties which brings up a window with many tabs. Click on the tab marked Customers. Highlight the customer and click on properties. You will then see a tab for Numbering Plan.
the ludn table list all ava dn's, you can make changes to free up numbers, if your using did numbers for a second line on some phones they should be non did, with cls = hta and lhk =1 and hunt =000 the second number will act the same as any other did, another useful tip is to use mcr keys instead of scr keys, using mcr 1234 as a did and key one mcr 1234 gives you two places to answer a call when 1234 is did inbound on int inbound, this freeing up the need for a a second line... if your not versed in the ludn table, it shows not only four digit numbers but 3,2 and single digit numbers so if you see a 2, as a ludn you have all numbers between 2000 and 2999, the number 31 would translate to 3100 to 3199. the best choice is to add numbers to your present did range, be sure when you contact your service provider, you not only request the range you need but reserve another block for future use, the charge for a res block is pocket change, another trick is to have the co send 5 digits, then delete the 1st digit, making your options much wider
