    For an alarm line, I would not use a DID line. If there is ever a problem with the PBX, you have lost your alarm protection. Do you have a loop start line from yor DT provider. If so, that what I would use on the RJ-31x.

    What are looking to spend. If you have $$$$ look at Nortel, Avaya, ESI. System depends on YOUR requirements for a system, not what everybody wants to sell you. Look at all with features that help you.

    Off Premises Extension

    Don't forget, when you are using a OPX you are using the extension of the OPX to "Power" the circuit. When you remove it and connect you must have something to power it. One or the other modems. Plain and simple.
