    Auditing questions

Try going into the auditing tab of the folder that you want to audit and see if you can remove that particular user. The only group that should be in the auditing portion of the folder properties should be the group that you created. If that particular user is not being audited, then I'll do...

Are you getting auditing events from other users, or just the user of that machine?

Problems with NT 4.0 Clients logging onto Windows 2K server

You mentioned that fact that you are running in native mode. It is my understanding that you can only run in native mode if you have Windows 2000 boxes on your network. If you have any legacy clients, (Windows NT, 98, etc), it is best to run in mixed mode. (Once in Native mode, you cannot change...

cannot change Administrator to a Guest on domain controller

I may be mistaken but I don't think you can disable the administrator account. I don't think you can rename it to guest either. Do you have any trouble renaming it to anything besides guest?

    Volume Sharing and permissions

I think that the easiest way to apply permissions is to map it out on paper first. Applying permissions can be tricky. Try not to deny permissions unless it is absolutely necessary. It makes your job a lot harder.

HELP - NIC unable to get IP dynamically

DHCPNACK means the DHCP server responded with a negative acknowledgement to the NIC's request to obtain an ip address. Basically, the NIC sent out a request for an ip address and the DHCP server responded with a negative acknowledgement, (did not provide an ip address). Usually this happens when...

HELP - NIC unable to get IP dynamically

I assume that you have covered this already, but are you configuring the TCP/IP properties of the NIC to obtain an IP address dynamically?

    DHCP

If it is a routed network, you can configure your router as a DHCP relay agent. By default, routers do not forward broadcast traffic, (DHCP is broadcast traffic). If a router is configured to be a DHCP relay agent, it will forward DHCP requests but ignore all other broadcast traffic.

    Copying Files

You may have to modify the "special" permissions to the folder. Aside from the regular permissions, (read, write, read and execute), there is a big list of special permissions, (I believe it is the advanced button when viewing a folders regular permissions). They give you more control...

    DHCP

You can control many aspects of DHCP. You can set up a scope, or a pool of IP addresses to be handed out to clients. You can also create exclusions....these are IP addresses that will not be given out....they are usually static ip addresses of network printers and servers. In addition, don't...

    Query Printer Status

You can normally do that by viewing the print queue. Once you submit a print job to the printer, double click on the printer icon in your thing tray at the bottom right hand portion of your screen. It should indicate how many pages are left in the print job. If your printer is technically able...

HP Deskjet 1220c paper slipping problems

Does it take the paper in all the way? If not, it sounds like the pickup roller might need to be replaced. How old is the printer and how much do you use it?

    Change jetdirect mac address

You can't really change the MAC address without replacing the NIC card in the printer. The MAC address is a hard coded address that is unique to the NIC. Therefore, the only way to change it is to replace the NIC.

HP 4000 printer - client config. question

I have seen this happen before with an HP Printer and it just so happens that it was a server based issue. I'm not sure if this situation would be the same. Check your print server configurations.
