From experience looks as though you are barking up the wrong tree.
Usually CRC errors and warnings to clean the drive are a sign that you have a hardware issue.
Do you have any event is's 9, 11 or 15 showing in the system log?? If so this is most likely a hardware issue!
Look at...
Try the following
1. Create a new backup job.
2. Can you see the new computer names through Network Neighbourhood?
3. Stop Backup Exec services, rename the Backup Exec data directory and restar tthe backup exec services.
If none of the above resolve the issue let me know.

You mentioned you only have 3 licenses. Datacenter server, sql agent and ofo. Theres your problem. There are no licenses for Remote agents. You need a license for each remote server that you want to protect. Otherwise it will stayed greayed out.

How many Remote agent licenses are showing in HELP, ABOUT in Backup Exec? In order to backup remote servers each server needs a remote agent installed and a license installed on the Backup Exec server.

In regards to Backup Exec 8.6 3878 you have Server Edition, Advanced Server Edition, Data Centre Edition. It all depends on the type of OS you have.
EG: If you have Windows 2000 Advanced server you will need Backup Exec 8.6 Advanced server license.

There is no such revision. With Backup Exec versions for Netware you have Builds. You can check this through a file called VERSION.DOC. Latest build of Backup Exec for Netware is 194.1. Maybe you can try upgrading to this build.
