cleaning statistics; write errors 1

Under the cleaning statistics on my dat drive I see that I have about 36,000 soft write errors. All the other servers that have tape drives in them only have about 500 soft write errors or so. They backup approximatly the same amount of data.

I was just wondering if was a big deal or not. Does it mean that the drive might be on it's way out?

If anyone could give me any info it would be greatly appreciated.
