Linux, "port mirror" between two boxes...

Good afternoon, all. I haven't posted on TT since 2010, so please excuse the "extended absence"... With the push to migrate things to the cloud, there's obviously still a few things you can't pull off like you can on good ol' on-prem hardware, leaving a deficiency that I'm hoping can be filled...

UPDATE - Verify the Number you're calling from...

Phoneman2 wrote an awesome FAQ back in 2003 that showed people how to write a vector so the system will speak back to you with the extension you're calling from (great for analog ports, and older digital phones that didn't natively display your number on the screen)...

    IPSI Firmware Upgrade fail.

FYI, several Avaya certs recently expired for existing firmware, meaning they had to be upgraded prior to the expiration date. I believe IPSI's were on that list. May want to check with your vendor to see if that's whats causing the issue.

Exchange 2007/2010 connected to IPO - FINALLY...

Damn, I'm sorry. Got busy and forgot to get this out to here. I'll get screenshots of how we pulled this off. I'll try to do over this weekend.

Exchange 2007/2010 connected to IPO - FINALLY...

I have (both speech-enabled or dtmf). But it wasn't anything odd - not like I did anything special, it just worked. I am a little bummed that exchange doesn't support DTMF transmission via INFO packets... :(

Exchange 2007/2010 connected to IPO - FINALLY...

Sorry, guys. Been slammed - not that I don't wanna share jamie.. OK, so there's some config that has to happen and it is a throwback to an older era where you'd build voicemail boxes "separately" in audix..... SIP trunk from IPO to SIPxECS (or avaya/nortel SCS-same thing/different skin)...

Exchange 2007/2010 connected to IPO - FINALLY...

Aw man. Forgot about that. Haven't logged in there in a while. :)

Exchange 2007/2010 connected to IPO - FINALLY...

Kyle, Yes, this is all SIP. Both inbound and outbound. Those SIP adapters/converters sound like crap. We used to deploy the Audiocodes 118 and it was OK, but always sounded like an analog line (unclear). This is all-SIP. Looking forward to seeing you at TM again this year. Kris

Exchange 2007/2010 connected to IPO - FINALLY...

That isn't a question folks - I'm very excited about this. FINALLY got Exchange 2007 (and now 2010) to integrate with IPO. I'll admit, there's an intermediate piece to it all, but in the end, you can call over SIP to check messages (and it identifies you as YOU), you can leave messages for...

VDN display w/ PRI on 96xx sets

I hate these damn 96xx phones. A single line of text, when all previous models had 2 lines of text. Wouldn't have this problem with 2 lines. :) And actually, found out some more detail on this. When we're receiving calls from certain clients, we're actually seeing the Agent ID name of the...

VDN display w/ PRI on 96xx sets

Good afternoon all. Over the weekend we upgraded our LD carrier lines from T1 to PRI. Of course, now we have Caller ID, which is great. However, our call center is reporting that the VDN name, which of course used to appear on the phone screen so they knew how to answer the call, is being...

Rebooting fixes issues for a couple of days...

Are these IP phones on each site with Direct Media enabled, or TDM stations? If IP phones, try disabling Direct Media for a little while, see if the problem goes away. I know, you may not have enough VCM resources for that, but at least try at one site. I've had wierd buggy experiences with...

    SIP and Outgoing Caller ID

Its supported on the system in 5.0. You can flag the trunk to support PAssertID, which allows it to send the actual SIP info and the "show THIS number instead" flag with different data. It will pick up your Nsi5132411010 string (or whatever number you use) for the asserted ID. Hope this...

HG Night/Out of Service buttons not getting black. in 5.0(8)

It is indeed a bug, happened 1/2 way through the 5 trials. Supposed to be corrected in the first MR, or you can get a private build I'm told.

    4690 IP Phone on IP500

Maybe they got the numbers mixed up and meant 9640. :) Kris G.

    Voicemail Lite on Version 5?

Kyle, I've got one more to top your one-up. Not only do we ONLY do Intuity mode when doing VMP, we replace all the sound files so it says AUDIX. Audix has the recognition of being for big companies, and smaller companies like that. Heck, even on VMP modules, in the Transfer Blocks if we've...

Auto Record displaying on Call Record button

Relabled to ON ACD CALL. ;) Of course, if we're going to mess with the agents minds, make it a USER button for themselves, that way they strive to do their best on every call, still thinking its being recorded. Kris G.

Nortel guys needs to add NPA-NXX to Avaya IP Office 5.2

Knowing both Option-series Nortel and Avaya, I know what you're looking to do. Depending on the release of the system (pre-4.x or 4.x), you'll be looking for Least Cost Routing or Auto Route Selection. Pre-4.x will be LCR (4.x will be ARS), and its a nasty way to do NARS/BARS (nortel speak)...

    SIP trunking carriers...

    This may help.... Here's what Broadvoice gave me: outbound_proxy_server: proxy-nyc.broadvoice.com proxy_port: 5060 registrar_server: sip.broadvoice.com registrar_port: 5060 phone_number: (10-digit phone number) auth_id: (10-digit phone number) auth_password: (the super-secret password) ntp_ip...

    Can Voicemail Pro run VMWare

2 years, 7 sites.... NO issues. :) Depending on the version (the freebie one made to run within Windows), USB not an issue.... The Windows one allows mapping of USB devices to a VM (virtual machine, not Voicemail). :) However, ever since serial dongles came out I recommend them. Less...
