    it sounds like you are booting up into openfirmware. it probably looks like a grey screen with a ">" prompt on your machine. try typing without the quotes "reset-nvram" and/or "resetnvram" and /or "resetall" and/or "reset-all" hit enter...

    you might try to put your user name and password in the router. i just setup a dsl for a guy who needed a username and pass to get on. i just put it in the router and it worked fine don't let your schooling interfere with your education--mt

    well, there is always a chance that when the power came back on, you had a large voltage spike (usually there is a small one) and it knocked out your mac. i have seen it happen as well as seen burned motherboards. do you get the classic start up chime? if you don't then it is probably a board...

    have you recently made any changes to the computer? mine did that when it was a cpu problem. make sure that your memory is seated all the way, cpu is seated all the way, all of your pci \ agp cards are seated all the way. btw..does it chime when you turn it on? don't let your schooling...

    Win98 second edition - password function does not work

    there is a way to do it. i'm not sure how it is done, but i have seen it on a win 98 box. if escape is used, you don't get access to anything and if an incorrect password is put in, it tells you so and brings you back to the login box don't let your schooling interfere with your education--mt

    i've seen one on my bosses osx machine. I saw it in the upper right hand corner about 3 icons to the left. or there abouts. i would go there to get online and then open whatever program i wanted to use at the current time.

    OS updates download to PC ?

    I don't believe that you can download anything mac to the pc because the mac has a resource fork and data fork. The pc only has one. You will lose one of the forks if you try to download the copy to the mac.
