Using the built-in "Database splitter" is very simple and quick.(TOOLS, DATABASE UTILITIES, DATABASE SPLITTER). Then you can update all you want without effecting the data.
In the Design view of the table, did you set the format to "currency"?
You can also set the format of the field in a query.
just go to the query design view and bring up the Properties of the field. (right click on the field)
Can you link to the database?
When you copy the table are you able to go into design view?
can you create a query, report or form?

Yes, go back to the pre split version, back it up and split the copy. They should automatically be linkes as Database_Fe and Database_Be. Make your changes to the frontend and if you need a copy of the frontend or backend just copy them Don't make a Replica!

The forms and reports stay with the frontend. You can do anything you want the the frontend ( add queries, forms, reports etc.) without any change the the backend as long as you use the existing tables and fields. If you do need to make field or table changes then you have to go into the...

Its always a good idea to split the database if there is going to be multiple users. I have used a different version of the frontend for different types of users so as to supply them access to only what they need. ( maybe just certain reports)
